From the NYTimes.com:
Leonard Nimoy, the sonorous, gaunt-faced actor who won a worshipful global following as Mr. Spock, the resolutely logical human-alien first officer of the Starship Enterprise in the television and movie juggernaut “Star Trek,” died on Friday morning at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles. He was 83.
His wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, confirmed his death, saying the cause was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Mr. Nimoy announced last year that he had the disease, which he attributed to years of smoking, a habit he had given up three decades earlier. He had been hospitalized earlier in the week.
Rest in peace, sir. An entire generation enjoyed your work and will remember you fondly.

Oh so sad to see this. Part of my childhood…gone. Nimoy became Spock and Spock was my favorite character of them all. No one in any of the subsequent Star Trek spin offs ever came close. Nimoy outshone them all. Sigh. You’ve now passed the final frontier. Rest in peace.
Yes, I loved Star Trek and he did a great job as Spock. All good things come to an end.
They do indeed. The end of an era.

Mr. Nimoy and Spock will be sorely missed. I wonder how it will get worked into
The Big Bang Theory show.
May he Rest In Peace. His characters will live forever, and that’s a pretty fitting tribute!
He’s dead in THIS universe.
Nanu Nanu… Wait… That was Mork…
Rest in Peace Mr. Nimoy, I enjoyed you work…
