Rush Limbaugh, with his new $400 million contract up to 2016, will do naught but guarantee the Left will implement a version of the Fairness Doctrine. I can hear the enamel flecking off the teeth of those at MoveOn.org from here. Heh-heh.
As far as the Left and the Demorats are concerned, there should be no free market economy.
Everyone has boasted of Limbaugh’s continued demise over the years. But his popularity simply grows. Rush is worth the money because he makes the money for advertisers and his host syndicate.
And it is precisely because the Left is unsuccessful at talk radio that they wish to eliminate it. Air America was “guaranteed” to compete with and then surpass Conservative radio. Air America, however, completely tanked. The Air America station in the city where I work, Sacramento, is off the air entirely. Why?
Because it had no listeners.
Why?
Because it was poor radio. And unentertaining.
Why?
Bitter hosts, shabby hosts, invective, terrible formatting that didn’t even manage to captivate the audience at which it was targeted. In other words, the Left didn’t even support itself.
Therefore, as with most everything the Left does, if the bulk of American citizens don’t care for as aspect advocated by the Left and Demorats, they’ll simply force Americans to take their position by legislative or judicial fiat.
But trust me: the Fairness Doctrine is only peripherally about “money” or “greed.” Mostly it’s about the Left’s desire to keep the American public in the dark about their activities.
An uninformed electorate is a stupid electorate is an electorate that will fall for anything because it believes in nothing.

O.K. fine…
Put Olbermann on Rush’s show and Rush on Olbermann’s. hell I’d pay to watch the fun. bet Rush could do a fine job there. Olbermann would hang himself within a week.
Maybe if the libs don’t wipe the floor clean in congress after November the fairness doctrine won’t go through.
It is highly possible all could go to hell in a handbasket if Obama is elected, but hopefully it will be like the Carter years. We made it through those years.
The main difference between the 70’s and now is the new kind of war we are in and how dangerous it could be if the libs take over completely. At that point, gas prices won’t matter, it will be whether or not we will be free anymore.
Rivka: my point precisely.

Even though I agree with most of what he says, I rarely listen to Rush. The fairness doctrine is about everything but fairness. If it was what it claims to be there would be people questioning gay rights on network television without being made to look like bigots. There would be pro-lifers that don’t look like Klansmen etc. All it is is “Free speech for me but not for thee.”
Rush is an entertainment genus, nothing more. He has found his nitch and he knows how to work it and good for him.
P.T. Barnum once said, “There’s a sucker born every minute”. Well, Rush has found his suckers and he laughing all the way to the bank and once again, good for him.
If anyone thinks Rush is in the, Save the Conservative Movement business, they are gravelly mistaken.
He is in the entertainment business, he’s a showman and he does it very well. When Rush gets together in the morning with his staff before he goes on the air, what do you think they discuss, the Conservative Movement, NO.
They discuss what he can say today that will get him on the front page. Being on the front page means more people will listen.
More people listening means $ 400,000,000.00 contracts, it means ratings.
Rush knows that with Obama in office his base will improve and ratings will go up, that means more money in his pocket, he’s not an idiot.
The people that thinks Rush cares about Conservatives or their party are the same people that think the T.V. Show Survivor is real.
Let me add, if Rush is such a successful mouth for the Conservative Party than let me ask you this…………………Why are the Democrats going to keep Congress in November? Why are the Democrats going to keep the Senate in November? Why is a Democrat moving into the White House this November?
If Rush is the mouth piece of the Conservative Party then he has failed them. He’s not the mouth piece of the Conservative Party and he knows it. He’s a showman with a show and he needs to keep gas in his Maybach, girls in his bedroom, prick size stogies in his mouth and drugs on his night-stand.
Remember, while Rush is deadhorsing his friends wife while loaded on Oxycontin, puffin on a Gorilla Size Prick Cigar, he won’t be thinking about you, me, the troops, conservatives and their kids or the American Way.
Wow. Does Rush really have a Maybach??

Ranando, that’s what I said about Malkin…
ME ME ME ME ME By God LOOK AT ME!!!
Fred,
I think there’s a big difference between Rush and Malkin. If you turn off Fox and your computer Malkin goes away, outside of blogs and Fox no one even knows who Malkin is.
You can’t turn on T.V., read a newspaper or turn on a radio talk show where Rush’s name doesn’t come up, he’s the master. It’s all about ratings and Rush has got it down.
I don’t even like Rush but I sometimes turn on his show just to listen to what he has to say next. When you can get people to listen in that don’t even like you you’ve learned the secret of being successful in the entertainment business and for that you have to give him much credit.
On Rush’s desk sets a ratings meter much like the site meter on our blogs. He knows at any given second how many people are listening. When that meter starts to go down he says something outrages and he can watch it go up, it’s really amazing.
The only other people that have learned this and associated it with making money are Howard Stern and Ann Coulter; all the others are what-to-be’s.
If Imus had the ratings that Rush has he would have never been fired. When the FCC sues a station for something the host has said the first words out of the executive’s mouths are what are his ratings?
The people I feel sorry for are the people that think Rush speaks for them, fools.
Its business, ratings and money and Rush does it well. For that you have to give him credit. A $ 400,000,000.00 contract, not bad, not bad at all. He’s the P.T. Barnum of 2008 and I say, good for Rush.
I wish I owned a piece of his show, you wouldn’t believe what I would have him say.
Good for him, smoke em if you got em.
That’s it, Ranando; Limbaugh is the consumate Businessman. Highly intelligent.
But it’s his SUCCESS on the Conservative side and not the Left side that has the Demorats seeing red and restrictive.
