Lions For Lambs

This film is failing miserably at the box office.

Yet it features three massive stars in one movie:

  • Tom Cruise
  • Meryl Streep
  • Robert Redford

The animated Bee Movie came out ahead of Lions For Lambs this past weekend. As did Fred Claus. And this was Veterans Day weekend as well (Further, know this: I wouldn’t give more than a few drips of my piss for the Bee Movie, which accuses humans of stealing honey. Aw geez, you overpaid shitheads, can’t you give us a break for even a second?).

I would ask: if the bulk of America is clearly against the war in Iraq, then why would the American purchasing public not flock to this newest anti-Iraq movie? In massive coagulated droves?
Yet the public stayed away in droves.

I don’t get it.

Well, yes I do. It’s obvious. Hollywood has once again misjudged America and is more concerned with navel-gazing than providing what America actually wants:
1. Entertainment
2. That is Uplifting
3. And avoids politics

Further, Hollywood is secretly concerned with some other anti-war films to be released shortly, such as “Charlie Wilson’s War” with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, as well as the Brian DePalma movie “Redacted,” focusing on the rape of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl by American soldiers.

Keep it up Hollywood and you’ll see your profits dry up completely. You wonder why most no one cares about a writers’ strike? Myself included? You figure it out.

I’m tired. Plain and simple, tired of my country being dragged across the white-hot coals of EXCEPTIONS and not the RULE.

And finally, I’m not providing links or photos to any of this propagandist vomit because I’ll be damned if I’ll promote any of it.

Hollywood is so out-of-touch with the Real World. And Mark Cuban’s movie “Redacted” is absolutely unconscionable. It is two hours of anti-American flowing vomit.

Question: why does the bulk of Hollywood spew such bullshit, you may ask?

Answer: Because its denizens are overpaid, overcoddled, overarrogant, overprivileged and over-guilty because, on some level, they do recognize their place in reality.

Folks, their lives are not real.

And they realize it in the very core of their shallow, little soul-less hearts.

  1. I am only hoping that this is a reflection of how America will vote. I think they are WRONG when they say most of America wants us to leave Iraq. I think the libs are hanging their hats on it. THey THINK America wants them in because of all of Bush’s blunders. The libs think they did a great job of hatcheting up Bush via the MSM and now we are totally brainwashed. I am betting they are wrong.

IF Hillary gets the nomination, maybe her chances will be slim at taking the presidency?

I have never been so concerned about an election as I am this one. This is crucial to our survival as a free nation.

I was concerned when Bill got elected. My concern was this nation would slip downhill as a result morally and fiscally. Of course I didn’t realize how his candidacy would effect the 3000 people who died on 9-11.

Hillary is worse than Bill. Just think about the cause and effect if she wins.

  2. “overpaid shitheads” is the best description of these ninconpoops that I’ve heard yet, BZ.

I HATE the fact that this movie is being allowed, considering it will put our troops in more danger and could actually cause the death of some of them. It would not have been allowed to play during WWII, and any theater that runs this crap is as guilty as Cuban and De Palma for what happens as a result of it!

  3. Who in the hell wants to go see a movie about the biggest Cluster-Fuck in American History, nobody.

Has nothing to do with the actors, director or Hollywood.

  4. Stay on strike, H-wood writers!

Do it just long enough to let people realize that the ability to tell a story is not limited to big budgets and *stars*. Give us JD Johannes and those who have captured the actual story of Iraq by being there and recording it… pick up such small films for a pittance and you will see how the simple story of good men and women from America can fight and *win*.

So strike on, oh H-wood writers!

Do other things with your lives and, maybe, look for small budgets with big dreams and few editors. Foreswear those high minded, ill conceived films and leave that sore that is outside LA. Come out and redeem yourselves with the stories you cannot tell, because they gain no interest, no budget, from those of big money sacks. Their time is nearly over, and the power of making good stories now shifts away from smog packed LA and out… to the people.

Keep on strike to regain your humanity and hold the rich interests who hate your Nation accountable.

There is no profit in that hatred, and only disdain for you that support it.

It is hard to leave such easy comforts of vile people, but you are writing your souls away for that. That big glow over the landscape is the large impactor headed to H-wood: it is the future.

And it sure, as hell, isn’t THERE.

Flee to your countrymen and gain good life, and tell decent stories. Stay and your soul will go with the end and be lost to us.

The day of cheap and good media, production tools and ability to edit and craft is now under $100,000… a group of *fans* now produce NEW Star Trek episodes in the original series era, just at a different place. Small cinema no looking for big money is made by those dedicated to trying to make a good story… they are no longer at Cannes or Sundance or Burning Man in the desert. They are now your neighbors, your friends who take on a new hobby with passion… because H-wood is screwed up.

Run away from the conglomerates… life will not be easy… but the stories you tell will be your *own*, not theirs. And you can kiss their formulas good-bye once and for good and all.

  5. Rivka: it’s crucial, yes, and at this point people are tending to vote with their feet, as in my allegory.

Gayle: thanks. But still, it IS a free market economy and it’s their privilege to write and produce any movie wished. It is conversely our privilege to stay away if we wish.

Ranando: can’t say as I disagree with you there. People do NOT want to see this content.

    AJ: holy moley! Nuff said!

  6. I am reading that a lot of the movies are made for foreign audiences and movies that are busts here frequently do well in some overseas markets. It’s called a lack of patriotism.

  7. I don’t think Lions for Lambs was that great a movie but it did have some great stars that should’ve drew some. But I am ecstatic that it didn’t do well. Maybe there are a lot of people like us who don’t want to see their country or their President trashed especially during war time.

I have never liked Redford and after his recent statements I’ve determined that he is a complete left wing nut. He was in Rome recently talking about how we don’t have free speech here. I wish we could send him some where that actually doesn’t have free speech.

  8. Shoprat touch upon what I wanted to say. I heard an interview on a radio talk show and the host asked the guest why Hollywood would continue to make these movies that Americans had no interest in. The guest replied that Hollywood markets much more to Europe than they ever had before and that these movies play well over there.
How disturbing is that? Hollywood marketing anti-American propaganda while our troops are in harms way.

  9. I dont like what Reford has grown to stand for or more correctly against. Tom Cruise is a poor actor at best. I never liked Meryl Streep. The only thing this movie could have done to hurt itself even more would have been to have Will Ferril in it.

  10. Funny how this Writers’ Strike is garnering as much support as the NBA players’ strike some years back. Which is to say, “None!”

    *Yawn*

Let ’em stay on the picket lines. They don’t know how to write anyway!
