A major new report confirms the worst fears of many: Health care reform will raise the costs for most Americans—by about 18% on average. That is on top of existing inflation of health coverage.
When combined with existing inflation, costs would rise from today’s $12,300 annual average to $25,900. Of that 111% increase, $9,600 is due to existing factors uncorrected by the legislation, and $4,000 due to additional costs created by the legislation.
For single persons, the differential is projected at $1,500 a year. Premiums would rise from today’s $4,600 a year to $9,600 overall.
Their (insurance companies) dire message that health care legislation will drive up premiums for people who already have coverage comes as a warning shot at a crucial point in the debate, and threatens President Barack Obama’s top domestic priority.
Democrats and their allies scrambled on Monday to knock down a new industry-funded study forecasting that Senate legislation, over time, will add thousands of dollars to the cost of a typical policy. “Distorted and flawed,” said White House spokeswoman Linda Douglass. “Fundamentally dishonest,” said AARP’s senior policy strategist, John Rother. “A hatchet job,” said a spokesman for Senate Finance Committee chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont.
The PWC projections track what The Heritage Foundation and many others have said about the legislation: It does not save money. It simply taxes those who have health coverage and uses the money to give care to others.
Any average third grader knows and recognizes the First Rule of Holes: when you’re in one, stop digging.
That is unless you’re digging for Gold.
Ranando, that just doesn’t compute. You know me and I know you. Money insulates. God bless you. But average is what it is. And I am average. I am one of those persons who chose, years ago, security vs challenge. I gave up years of bonuses and the high-risk / high-gain world. I experienced that world in my early 20s with radio. I determined I’d take security. And my world with that choice is splattered. And no matter how I provided service.
People choose SERVICE over profit. You kill ME and you kill YOU.
This society cannot SURVIVE without those who wish to SERVE.
BZ
BZ Buddy,
Security vs Challenge? Whoa, slow down.
You read way to much into my comment…..
I was simply saying, sometimes you need to keep digging.
Not important, not important at all.
Keep digging, okay, I get that.
I haven’t given up, certainly.
Perhaps that’s what you meant?

“This society cannot SURVIVE without those who wish to SERVE.”
Seems to me that we need to raise taxes on those who have benefited most in the last 8 years. I’m talking about A-ROD, KANYE, OPRAH, and all the people who make insane money for throwing a football etc. Go ahead and cut BUSINESS taxes. CEO’s like Steve Jobs and Ken Lewis can afford it. They made a killing over the last 8 years. You BZ, are underpaid and overtaxed, like most of us in the middle class. In 1980 the top 1% owned 8% of the countrie’s assets. Now it’s 23%. 3 million people own 23%. The AARP is for this bill. That insurance company report sounds suspect to me. I was in Canada Friday and bought some over the counter pain reliever and watched as three people in front of me produced identical blue Medicare cards and paid nothing for thier prescriptions. I asked if they were satisfied with thier healthcare. They all said “absolutely”. If we need to “fillup the hole let’s have the uber-rich pick up a shovel, too.
This from my RINO Senator, Dick Lugar is actually, though showing too much respectfulness for Obama’s intent, is the view the moonbats in Congress are overlooking.
“”A majority of the Members of Congress share President Obama’s humane goal that millions more Americans might enjoy health insurance coverage and that medical care to all Americans might be substantially improved. For the moment, however, President Obama and the Congress must recognize that the overwhelming demand of most Americans is that presidential and congressional leadership should focus each day on restoration of jobs, strengthening of housing opportunities, new growth in small business and large industries, and banks that are not only solvent but confident of normal lending. In essence, the task facing national leadership is truly monumental. A national and international recession has not ended and many economists predict that unemployment in the United States will grow in coming months.
When even a RINO sees the priorities being all wrong… you know this is a monumental train wreck coming down the pike!!!!
He’s doing it on purpose, after crashing the economy and plunging us into the Dark Ages, he expects to escape and float away on the tides of his Tides Foundation, etc. His internationalist cadre will comfort him and Michelle in the aftermath, Davos is nice in the summer…
Tim: uber-rich? I’ve got nothing against that. I’m still for a flat tax across the board. You make X dollars? Subtract X percent. Send that in. Everyone. Across the board. Rich, poor, in between. No deductions.
However, if you want a national riot, then I suggest this: NO taxes taken out of your paycheck; however, you WILL pay “quarterlies” like businesses.
Once people TRULY understand HOW much tax is taken from them — and they WILL when they have to cut a separate check — there WILL be a revolt.
Which is why that will never occur. Deductions are wonderfully deceiving and alluring — and that’s the point.
See my next post if you wish to have your life Rocked.
And Canada? That was just one day in a line. Start asking Canadians what taxes they pay for what and when. Then ask why are there so many medical clinics and facilities in the US so close to the Canadian border.
HAM: it’s no more complicated than This Nation Can’t Sustain Any Further Debt.

Sorry guys, you are the one’s buying the lies. Tell that to your dying family member if we don’t get a Public Option because retards like you bought the lies from insurance companies.
BZ said: “there WILL be a revolt.” I don’t know why you and Texas Turd have to evoke this assassins uprising when you disagree with the President. It’s fools like you who are gonna get this guy assassinated-which I realize is your goal. Man, you guys do hate America!
And soon, very soon, those who have loved that increased regulatory bureaucracy, that will look into everything, will soon have their Cheerios looked into. Yes! By making a modest claim about what having more fiber in your diet from their cereal would do, they are making a DRUG CLAIM about FIBER! Ahhhh… how long until oat bran is a drug?
Will it be OTC or will, as I suspect, you need a prescription for it?
And then, when one company has a problem, why not shut down the whole industry because of production problems at one company? It is for your SAFETY!
Everything will be done by government mandate, the food approved with a smiling picture of the President on every package, and your necessary papers must be in order to get them.
The Soylent Green will be cheap, no doubt, as it will come from the very cleanest of sources…

Well, if you think your loved ones will be insured health care or won’t be rejected under a government run plan, you’ve not been listening… Almost a trillion dollars spent… and 29 million Americans WON’T BE COVERED! This is from the Senate Finance Committee!
Any name calling coward who posts under anonymous, can’t really be taken seriously. Where are your facts?????
It’s fools like you who are gonna get this guy assassinated
Do you trolls know how stupid you sound!!! There isn’t an American Citizen concerned about what this Saul Alinsky styled Marxist protege is doing that wants to see him martyred!!! I want him to live and stand trial for treason!!
Oh BZ, I know there is more to it than that, I was just surprised RINO man said that, plus he said he disagreed with BHO. I was rather shocked.
Oh Mom, you are one of the dinosaurs who has such a pea brain and need to die off before this country can truly move forward.
You know, I hate Anonymous trolls, even if I agree with some of what they say. Calling people retards, etc. just because you disagree with them is how our political discourse in this country became so hateful. BZ- we differ in our opinion on this issue, but I still think you are a nice guys that I can be friendly with. You are not calling me an idiot and I am not calling you names. H.A.M. I disagree with your position, but heartily concur on your opinion of the Anon. commenter. I just had somebody from your side of the fence sinking to this level at my blog. It got so bad that I had to block the comments on that post. I can agree to disagree, but don’t have to be disagreeable.
