NoKo and SoKo: On The Brink?

The information is out: North Korea sank the South Korean warship on March 26th, which resulted in the deaths of 46 South Korean sailors. North Korea immediately disavowed responsibility. Facts in evidence proved otherwise. Investigations now indicates Kim Jong Il authorized the attack.

Now, Mr Obaka has ordered US commanders to prepare to “deter future aggression” from North Korea.

You may not be aware, but there are still 28,000 US troops stationed in South Korea near the SoKo/NoKo border, as a holdover from the 1950 to 1953 Korean War.

The divided Koreas are not just at stake. The Two Largest Global Dogs are in the hunt: China and the United States. If military action is taken against North Korea, money can be wagered that China will step in on the side of North Korea. The US will be support South Korea.

The up-ramping from words to actions to “throw weight” could be geometric.

Sanctions are already forthcoming.

In the meantime, Mr Obaka’s approval ratings are down to 44%.

A full 63% of Americans want ObakaKare repealed.

  1. I don’t think this will come to a US v China thing myself…but it could. I just don’t think it will.
Odd that, since Bush is out of office, so many things like this are happening…threatening to US, too……they’d not have dared when they had an Eisenhower or Reagan or GWB……….
Fear is a good thing. then you hear lefties say “Well, if WE have nukes, why SHOULDN”T N Korea?”

    #@($&*(@#$&*(#@

  2. In fairness Z, GWB did NOTHING to avert this coming conflict. NOTHING! (This comes from someone who feels he did a better job as POTUS than either of his two opponents would have done.)
Will it boil down to us vs. China?
Want a glimpse into our possible future? Read your history books, kiddies. We are now considered the “weak horse” in much of the world…
Seoul is literally SECONDS away from the DMZ by fast airplane, and we’re dealing with a sawed-off egomaniac who has NO ONE telling him NO.

    And BZ, NEWS FLASH!
    (dit-da-dit-dit-dit-dit-dit!)
Bozama’s approval rating is now down to 42%!
The 44% number is his STRONGLY DISAPPROVE rating!

  3. China already owns us and damn near ALL of our financial markets…

Consider this: China calls in ALL loans… We are destroyed monetarily…

Consider this as well: IF the USA had a POTUS with balls, he’d tell NoKo to KISS our American asses and default on the payments…

Would probably cause a war, would certainly cause a catastrophe on the world market, but since we’re talking about Barack Hussein Obama, BALLS don’t come into play, that son of a bitch has none…

  4. Let’s just hope our troops can hold back China when it happens. Yeah their technology isn’t as good, but they aren’t fighting with sickles and rakes anymore. A bullet will still kill. It’ll come down do old school grunts in the trenches again, without all the technology. NoKo should eat a d**k. I have many friends who served with the 2ID in SoKo, and this crap was inevitable. The tension is high, and now we have to wait for Obaka to state ” I am monitoring the situation carefully, and peace talks with NoKo will happen.” 2 words about that: “horse sh*t!!!!!!!!!”

  5. If we DO go to war, do you think the outcome will be different this time? With two theaters of combat, and the freaking Arabs and Muslims hating us, and now with NoKo anf maybe China, how can we survive BZ? This is where the rubber hits the road as far as our future is concerned. Lock and load. Remember, aim for the center of mass.

  6. China won’t precipitate a U.S. financial collapse because all that paper would then become worthless. They won’t do it because they are that greedy. They can’t recover no matter how much technology they steal or reverse engineer. In the mean time we still have their dough. China will curb Kim Jong Ill before the Navy will.

  7. @ Christopher,

Don’t be so quick to judge China’s arsenal. 3 years ago, while doing a satellite fly-by Google Earth picked up the latest Nuclear Sub in their fleet: http://www.fas.org/blog/ssp/2007/07/new_chinese_ballistic_missile.php
That means they are fairly stealth, and armed with boomers. I get a sick feeling in my stomach when I remember that our fleet spotted a Chinese nuke not far from Cuba not long ago. We ain’t in Kansas anymore, Dorothy.

  8. “Who are WE to determine who has nukes?” Yes, Z, I have heard, incessantly, the Leftist “Who are WE to” and “Who are YOU to. . .” bleat for many years.

Greybeard: I’m not sure I understand your reference to GWB. Yes, there was the 4-1-01 Hainan Island incident with our EP-3E Aries. In my estimation GWB fell back on that one. But in dealing with Korea during his tenure? I’m not sure what you mean or what you infer should have been done.

And, THANKS for the newsflash! Though I am frankly not surprised, eh?

TF: those are facts in evidence, sir.

Christopher: the rubber may not be too terribly far FROM meeting the road. I am at a loss as to how this will proceed.

DM: I concur; China won’t call all our debt because we are still the major importer of all their stuff. They need us needing stuff. They’ll never reference this fact but you know it’s true. But China curbing KJI? I’m not quite so positive about that.

Gary: you bring up an interesting point. China surfaced one of their diesel-electric subs in the midst of an international exercise back in 2007:

“American military chiefs have been left dumbstruck by an undetected Chinese submarine popping up at the heart of a recent Pacific exercise and close to the vast U.S.S. Kitty Hawk – a 1,000ft supercarrier with 4,500 personnel on board.

By the time it surfaced the 160ft Song Class diesel-electric attack submarine is understood to have sailed within viable range for launching torpedoes or missiles at the carrier. According to senior Nato officials the incident caused consternation in the U.S. Navy. The Americans had no idea China’s fast-growing submarine fleet had reached such a level of sophistication, or that it posed such a threat.”

People think D-E subs are primitive. Really? They are QUIETER when running on electrical power than their nuclear counterparts which mandate that PUMPS RUN underway.

  9. My point may have been too obscure, BZ.
Some (not me) are now accusing Bozama of being weak in regards to Iran and their pursuit of nuclear weapons. My question is similar to yours…
What’s he supposed to do? And the obvious answer? We (correcttly in my opinion, considering the international intelligence that was gathered) attacked Iraq thinking they were in a similar pursuit.
Should we now attack Iran BEFORE they attempt to destroy Israel or set off a Nuke in New York?
Should GWB have made sure Lil’ Kim didn’t get Nukes?
Would we now be standing helplessly by if we had acted proactively?

I think we are now too weak to be in control, but 6 years ago?
    I like George Patton’s remedy…
We shoulda done something then. Now we’re a spectator.

  10. China is finding its debt vehicles having to be called in and does not have the cash to pay them off. If they trigger our collapse, they implode… and if they try to keep on squeaking by, they will crumble anyway. China has far too much in the way of Non-Performing Loans handed out by the government to be a good investment, and a demographics crunch that will be nasty. Mind you, Europe has much the same sort of problems as does Russia.

China’s main worry with regard to NoKo is that it will have to take out any civilians flooding north from such a conflict. They are starving and China cannot support any sort of extra population even if it had external help. NoKo can kill people in their millions and still not be able to actually ‘win’ a war against the South due to the capability of the South militarily. They wish to play their extortion game another round or five, but with the crunch of the Chinese economy, NoKo can’t get funds or material easy any more. While the attack is aimed at South Korea, the target is China.

Whatever happens, don’t expect the present administration to know how to handle it, what to do, or who to stand up for. We will get the grand vote of ‘Present’ when our allies are attacked.

No good shall come of that.
