And, once again, clear information that the Obama Administration wants three clear things:
Obama Admin Objects to Alaska Oil and Gas Development Bill

The Obama administration today said a proposal from House Natural Resources Chairman Doc Hastings (R-Wash.) to expedite oil and gas leasing and energy infrastructure permitting in an Alaska reserve could force federal regulators to flout environmental laws and includes a costly, redundant resource assessment.
Americans are feeling the pain at the pump as gasoline prices climb towards four dollars a gallon. Tapping the SPR may provide some temporary relief but we must consider America’s long-term energy security. For two years, the Obama Administration and Congressional Democrats have fought nearly every attempt to insulate America from unstable OPEC countries by opposing job-creating American energy development. The SPR is specifically for situations when there is a dramatic supply shutdown or shortfall of oil on the world market. Short-term releases of oil from our strategic reserves does not replace the 300,000 barrels a day this Administration has squandered due to inaction on offshore drilling permits, nor will it put the thousands of people in the Gulf back to work. We can protect against future price spikes, spur our economy and create good paying jobs by moving now to develop untapped reserves in the Gulf, Alaska, the OCS and our public lands.”
It’s impolite to question the motives of dear leader, besides, we don’t want those dastardly oil companies making any money or maintaining all the jobs and equipment here stateside, we want to make sure the Arab nations have the money they need to blow us off the map.
The Obama administration is doing everything possible to tank the American economy. These elitists apparently think they’ll see be sitting at the top if our economy hits the skids even worse that it already has. Even if these elitists do prosper, that prosperity will be very short-lived as a nation’s energy sources comprise a significant portion of what drives the economy.
How many ways do we need to see that this administration’s trying to hurt our country?
BZ, seriously..what the HELL is going ON?
Mark, perfect thinking. Keep on it.
AOW: so just, I have been asking, from WHERE do we think our energy will come? Can’t have nuclear, can’t have coal, can’t have oil-fired, wind, thermal and solar are too inefficient and/or inconsistent/undependable on a large scale.
Z: there is an evil wind on the horizon. . .

On the serious side I’d have to argue this policy has been around much longer than Obama. this policy has been in place since the mid ’70s or so and seems to have support in both major parties and, really, has wide support among the populace why? I dunno. people like to dislike large american companies, that’s certainly part of it and the reason why most american oil companies went by the wayside or got bought out by Europe. the populace does not seem to want drilling, refining and such here and do not want the jobs these industries supply. they want to cry about the cost of enriching the Saudi’s but not actually DO anything to change it.
Tank is right… even if the drilling was allowed TOMORROW, it would take 5 years for the first gallon to make it to the pump…
If we would drill our own oil we’d never have to import another drop of Arab, or any other oil…
America could be out of debt if we drilled our own, we could export and American could pat .40 a gallon for gas…
But the dumb sons a bitches won’t allow it, and the loons on the left empower it…
Mark, drilling in/around ANWR has been advocated for some time. And I don’t know too many Conservatives who don’t want America to wean itself off oil — if it’s practical, if it’s reasonable, if it doesn’t ruin the economy, the nation and — by extension — the world in the process.
NFO: that’s a given; the longer we wait the longer it takes. And it could take longer. What if we’d started that five or ten years AGO?
TF, that is absolutely correct.

BZ if drilling here had wide support, we would be DOING it. the people elect the representatives they want who carry out the will of their constituents. yeah, SOME of us would like to see us energy independent, myself included. Alaskans have been begging for more drilling! THEY WANT such jobs, but, we are obviously the minority and have been for decades. both the federal government and many state oil and gas commissions have put the lid on this a great many years ago, this policy is nothing new. the desire for SOME more drilling here is actually fairly recent.
