PBS: Wrong About Islam | Bloviating Zeppelin

PBS has decided to kill a film, financed by your federal tax dollars, because there isn’t sufficient pro-Islamic influence:

The producer of a tax-financed documentary on Islamic extremism claims his film has been dropped for political reasons from a television series that airs next week on more than 300 PBS stations nationwide.

Key portions of the documentary focus on Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser of Phoenix and his American Islamic Forum for Democracy, a non-profit organization of Muslim Americans who advocate patriotism, constitutional democracy and a separation of church and state. Martyn Burke says that the Public Broadcasting Service and project managers at station WETA in Washington, D.C., excluded his documentary, Islam vs. Islamists, from the series America at a Crossroads after he refused to fire two co-producers affiliated with a conservative think tank.

Concerning on its face, but read more:

Burke wrote that his documentary depicts the plight of moderate Muslims who are silenced by Islamic extremists, adding, “Now it appears to be PBS and CPB who are silencing them.” A Jan. 30 news release by the corporation listed Islam vs. Islamists as one of eight films to be presented in the opening series.

And therein is the Large Deal: the perspective of the film — because it seeks to portray “moderate Muslims” who are “silenced” by Muslim extremists.

Because PBS, as we must know, cannot even remotely envision such a thing as an “extremist” Muslim — that would, after all, be judgmental.

Hypocrisy at its best — and your tax dollars used to fund the film — then not allowed to run? Whom are PBS deluding?

Another reason to know why we are taking steps down the same road as Europe with regard to Islam.

When will these dingbats get it? We must be judgemental and we will have to get over this crappy pc attitude if we intend to survive. I have to wonder if it will take a nuclear bomb going off in this country in order to wake these absolute dunderheads out of their stupor!

I hate to hear that Fred Thompson has cancer. Although he says “”I am in remission and it is very treatable with drugs if treatment is needed in the future,”…
It may stop him from running for the Presidency, and he’s the one I would have liked to see get the nomination. Dang!

Gayle: to answer you succinctly: yes, I fear that’s truly what it will take. I am that assured of our collective ignorance.

And yes, he is the one from which I want to see a detailed platform so that I might evaluate his positions.

Gee, yet another reason to not watch PBS. Imagine that.

BWH: yeah, a shock huh? It’s the TAXPAYER-FUNDED part that jerks MY chain, however.

Everyone knows that only Christians, Jews, Whites, Orientals and Straights create problems. Muslims are the ultimate victims so they are allowed to victimize anyone they wish. Makes no sense but liberalism quit making sense when Johnson was in the White House.

This disgusted me. I paid for that? Damn.

Yeah — your federal dollars “at work.”

Federal dollars in action… or is that inaction?

By pushing that lovely Transnational *victims don’t have to be held accountable for anything they do forevermore* idea, and then point to America as the ’cause’, then everything is just honky-dory with the Transnational Progressivists. Don’t mind that knife at the back of the neck… I’m sure it won’t hurt more than an instant or three…
