And what I know is, over the centuries, the doctors of the Church have not been able to make that definition. And St. Augustine said at three months. We don’t know. The point is, is that it shouldn’t have impact on a woman’s right to choose. Roe v. Wade talks about very clear definitions of when the child, first trimester, certain considerations second trimester, not so third trimester, there’s very clear distinct, this isn’t about abortion on demand, it’s about a careful, careful consideration of all factors that a woman has to make with her doctor and her God. And so I don’t think anybody can tell you when life begins, human life begins. As a say, Catholic Church, for centuries, has been discussing this, and there are those who have decided-

Speaker Pelosi affirms with each reception of the Holy Eucharist that she accepts the teaching of the Catholic Church that includes paragraph 2270 in its Catechism, “Human life must be respected from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person – among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.”
By the way paragraph 2271 shows a lack of nuance, “Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion.” It goes on. Look it up if you like.

I was raised in the Catholic Church and their position on abortion is the ONLY position I agree with them on…
And to the best of MY knowledge the belief that life begins at conception is, and always has been the general consensus…
Ya might want to check with folks that are more current in their knowledge of that group of idolators and pedophiles but that was my understanding 36 years ago when I walked OUT of the RCC and never looked back…

Fred, The “idolaters and pedophiles” since 36 years ago and further back than that have been sued, prosecuted, suffered, incarcerated and been murdered in prison. A few are on the lam and separated by competent authority from the Church. The Catholic dioceses where they abused their trust have paid dearly to the point of selling facilities and closing long term ministries that civil or secular efforts have yet to fulfill.
Many millions, perhaps billions, of dollars were paid in punitive and compensatory damages. The Church still did not shirk its burden in paying. A few dioceses went backrupt.
The Catholic Church in California was subjected to ex post facto legislation (Any help from constitutional scholars here?) relaxing statutes of limitations enacted by our state so that even more money damages could be extracted.
Two popes have condemned and apologized for abuse in the most public and overt ways.
Real contrition, penance, atonement and reparation have been made. Why, now, do you stay away?
