From The Weekly Standard:
A new poll conducted by Politico/GWU/Battleground finds that 76 percent of Americans favor “Cutting government spending across the board.”
Fifty-nine percent of Americans registered to vote strongly favor the “across the board” cuts and 17 percent “somewhat” favor the cuts. Only 13 percent strongly oppose “across the board” spending cuts, and 10 percent “somewhat” oppose the cuts. Two percent are unsure.
Ladies and gentlemen, imagine that. 76% of Americans actually want a smaller government.
But wait. Stop right there.
That’s what those people may express in polls.
But that’s not how they voted.

Ain’t THAT the truth… sigh
The Republican Party is about to go the way of the coelacanthe.
You actually pulled one up from the ocean once, photographed it for evidence, but you probably won’t be seeing it again unless you rent DSV Alvin, deep under the waves.

Accross the board cuts? It will never happen, unless we adopt a one-bill-one-topic law.
As long as legislators can bury unrelated amendments in bills, there will never be any significant cuts to any program, ever.
Plus, that would affect re-elections, because no politician wants to cut anything that might affect “his” district. And he does not want to require any other politician to cut anything in “his” district for fear that THAT politician might force him to cut something in HIS district, and that might affect his re-election.
And so it goes.
I has reached the stage of hopelessness.
Joe, that’s what I call “Truth in Bills: No Riders.”
You’re correct. Won’t happen.

If we could simply remove the PORK and welfare cheats, we’d be OK…
The U.S. government wastes money because it’s not *their* money, at least that’s how they look at it…
Think *free cheese*…
Oh gawd, I sure as hell know about Free Cheese.
Fornicalia is about to give FREE CELL PHONES to the “homeless.” Statewide.
As they cascade into their own fiscal chasm.

It’s a shame, actually. They did the complete opposite. This is what happens when people don’t educate themselves before casting a vote.
