Reading Miranda Rights To Terrorists?

I’m a little late on the issue, I believe, but when I heard it today my first thoughts were: “no, this simply cannot be true.”
But it has not been refuted by the Obama Administration.
What’s the issue? From FoxNews.com:

A senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee is accusing the Obama administration of quietly ordering the FBI to start reading Miranda rights to suspected terrorists at U.S. military detention facilities in Afghanistan.

You must be kidding, yes?
The Miranda Decision, based upon Escobedo, pertains only to American citizens and but upon American shores. This is a civilian and not a military application.
Any US law enforcement officer knows the three-pronged test for Miranda application:

1. Custodial
2. Interrogation
3. By a peace officer
The next paragraph settles on the back of Captain Obvious:

The move is reportedly creating chaos in the field among the CIA, FBI and military personnel, according to Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich. The soldiers, especially, he says, are frustrated that giving high value detainees Miranda rights — the right to remain silent, the right to an attorney — is impeding their ability to pursue intelligence on the battlefield, according to a story first reported by the Weekly Standard.

I’m sorry, folks, but this is sheer insanity.
You are not just asking but demanding that this country be subject to attack.

    1. You have the right to swing first. Anything you do can and will lead to an ass-kicking.

    2. You have the right to have a priest and/or an EMT present at the time of the ass-kicking.

    3. If you don’t have a priest, one will be appointed free of charge, to read you your last prayer.

  3. My first question is this: Is that fucking moron opening up the floodgates for a shitload of dismissals when all the gitmo gang claims that they were never read their rights? The ACLU is going to have a field day with this lunacy!

  4. Hussein wants miranda rights read after saying he didn’t.. He goes on t.v. (complete idiot) and says Iran is showing us a great example of ‘debating the issues’ during this election.. talking it out etc.. like they have this great leadership that allows ‘debate’ within the country.. NOT. Need I say more?

    Sheesh.. We are in big trouble. North Korea is stepping up it’s rhetoric now.. Shouldn’t we feel safe with the big “O” at the helm? YES.. Why we are all crazies thinking all this stuff about Obama. He is patriotic, he is against socialism, he wants to keep us safe, he is going to hold terrorists who aren’t at Guantanamo accountable!

    After harsh interrogations (that did amount to abuses, but no waterboarding), Qahtani was singing like a canary….until some lawyers got to see him. Then he clammed up and retracted everything he said previously.

  10. Well we let Ahmed Zuhair go from Guantanamo to KSA as they have a ‘terrorist reform program’, which probably consists of flowers and a boodle of cash to the lucky ‘reformee’. This guy was picked up in Bosnia as part of the round-up of al Qaeda operatives as he was implicated in killing a US diplomat in Bosnia in the 1990’s. In that raid we also picked up lovely documentation connecting that cell not only to al Qaeda, but al Qaeda to a family member of a powerful company in KSA. That is the al-Bakri Company.

    Now for most people this doesn’t ring bells. For me it does.

    The al-Bakri company owns Petronas, a Malaysian petrochemical firm. That firm had dealings in, of all places, Kenya. Not only that it had lovely contacts with the then head of the Oil Ministry… Raila Odinga.

    Now as part of this a drug lord got chased out of Kenya by a couple of Red Mafia types going under the name of the Artur Brothers. They killed the drug lord in the Netherlands… the area he had controlled has oil deposits that Petronas wanted to get at. Even better a few years later, after the Artur Brothers settle in to become local narcotics traffickers, those self-same ‘brothers’ help raid a newspaper that was about to publish damning material on ODM… and Raila Odinga. Their lawyers were paid for… by Petronas.

    Get the idea?

    Now Raila Odinga is the chief of the tribe that Obama’s father comes from, and Raila is a sort of Godfather to Barack. To the point that Barack was calling him on the campaign trail.

    Lovely, no?

    Color me unamused by this chain of events.

    And from this terrorist to his cell and al-Bakri, then to Odinga, then to Obama… well that is barely four degrees of separation and more like three. Isn’t it great how close the President is to a man he released from Guantanamo?

    Yes, the right to remain silent will soon be the order of the day on the battlefield, I suspect… and no more ‘prisoner problem’ either.
