I’ve had another Week From Hell. Today, Sunday (as I write this), is my first “official” day off in a while. And, oddly enough, I’m using it to write on the internet. But, as I’ve stated before, I find writing to be cathartic and a release — even bordering on relaxing. With these exceptions:
I happen to be a fan of the now-defunct TV show “Boston Legal.” I enjoyed the acting and particularly the interplay between James Spader and William Shatner. Certainly their episodes predominantly consisted of left-leaning plots but I can enjoy many things on many levels — (why I subscribe to The Nation, read Daily Kos and other Leftists. I can’t simply shut myself up into a cocoon, slit my own wrists and then drink my own blood for sustenance. It is, in my estimation, vitally important for me to know what the Left is saying, writing and thinking) and “Boston Legal” did have some great bits and scenes. Denny and Alan in the parking garage confronted by the robber? Classic Denny Crane.
Jackboot #1: We have the White House officially wanting lists, names, numbers, addresses of those persons who deign to dissent from the prevailing philosophy in power. Not covertly; oh no. Overtly and with the complicit tolerance of the DEM/MSM — nary a peep in disapproval. Switch the facts: what if Mr Bush had done this COvertly? I’m certain you can do the mathematics required.
On Thursday of this past week one of our female Sergeants was killed in a traffic accident on the way to her new work site. Her small car, a Toyota MR2, was jammed out of her lane when another female, who was driving erratically (and her driving behavior called into 9-1-1 prior to the accident) cut her off. Our Sergeant swerved to miss the female’s car and spun, then impacted (at freeway speeds), the rear of a tractor/trailer rig. There was little left of the car.
Luckily, her husband had charge, that day, of their four small children and they were not in the car at the time. I knew her well. She and I both used to work for the Training Division — until our two jobs were recently eliminated in the budget crisis.
Her husband also worked, as a Sergeant, in the same Training Division. His job was kept.
Then — just this past Saturday — another of our deputies was shot whilst responding to a “suspicious circumstances” call for service. It turns out that four armed black males were seen casing a business in the late morning and, when contacted by our deputy, opened fire on him, striking him above the vest in the shoulder area. He called for cover immediately and, eventually, three of the four suspects were apprehended. In that process a second firefight ensued but no officers were injured. The first deputy was taken to a local trauma center and is listed in stable condition.
That said, my mind continues to wander. . .

I watched an episode last night on DVD (I refuse to watch episodic television “live” with idiotic commercials — I instead buy my TV on disc) where Alan Shore (James Spader) and senior partner Shirley Schmidt (Candice Bergen) reflect with misty doe-eyes on the wondrous potential and limitless implications at this nation’s having elected a — swooning to commence now — black man as president.
And my first thought was: okay, so how do you characters really like him so far?
Hasn’t closed Gitmo. Hasn’t gotten us out of Iraq.
And I also thought: let’s encapsulate what we really have in our nation now.

Jackboot #2: The so-called “Fairness Doctrine” is soon to be revisited, particularly in light of the ascending efficacy of various protests around the nation regarding ObamaKare.
Jackboot #3: The Demorats are labeling those who possess the temerity to protest ObamaKare as “well dressed” and “mobs” who are “carrying swastikas and symbols” in order to “hurt our president” and “change our Congress.” I say: this is simply grassroots action. The GOP couldn’t organize their own sock drawers at this point.
It’s representative, instead, of The People beginning to actually find Their Voice.
Jackboot #4: Because of this, Demorats are purposely closing any further townhall meetings, refusing to answer phones and e-mail, refusing to consider the wants of constituents at all. Their minds are set, period. Do not confuse them with facts. Period.
Jackboot #5: Global Warming exists. The Demorats and Religious Left’s minds are set, period. Do not confuse them with facts. Period. Though C02 is considered a threatening gas, all mammals including Man exhale this lethal gas. There are those on the Left who suggest we should, therefore, begin to cull that herd. I say: you first.
Jackboot #6: Therefore, America’s Cap & Tax is the perfect solution to the problem. Let the American Taxpayer fund every national and global solution to this perceived environmental problem. Let’s kill business. Let’s drive our own energy production — on all levels — off the North American continent. And let’s just see what kind of economy (and I use that word quite loosely when applied in that context) will result.
I never thought our former president would spend billions for TARP funds — funds that, essentially, no one can account for.
Even here, I have left SO much out. Stimulus? GM? Selectivism?
And whilst that appears to bring up my next obvious thought with regard to one very important word — ACCOUNTABILITY — it’s remarkable, is it not, how “accountability” is completely missing from Our Hero’s administration? And what, also, about the “T” word: “transparency”?
How much “transparency” do you actually see with this current administration? — though, of course, they ran on “change” and that “change” was to have included accountability and transparency.
Wasn’t it said, by Mr Obama, that all bills would be posted online for five days for public viewing?
There isn’t ONE instance in which that has happened.
Furthermore, I submit that Mr Obama and his wife has made a mockery of our presidency. You’ll of course notice that in my writings not ONCE have I placed the word “president” directly adjacent the word “Obama.” That should be one clue.
Second, I submit that Mr Obama’s covert smoking, his “hat backwards” posturing, his “fist bumping,” his late night TV appearances, his “gift-giving” skills, leave much to be desired in terms of Presidential Respect. His global protocol is reprehensible. His understanding of other nations is reprehensible.
And where, oh where — do I ask — will he even remotely begin to find the funding for his quite clearly Socialistic programs?
Trillions and trillions of dollars, just since January 20th, have been wasted and, moreover, created out of THIN AIR.
My grandparents died in 1979. My mother in 2002. My father just this year on February 11th.
I now realize this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, for I doubt they would even recognize their once-beloved nation. It is now an alien presence, even perhaps an objectionable tumor scheduled for rescission.
I, myself, am beginning to lose physical and mental track of what my country used to be.
Where we are going — this is not a trip with which I wish to participate.
And we must do something about this, my friends.
Very damned soon.
BZ
BZ, I’m so sorry about your friends…four children left without a mother and a police shot; how awful.
As for the situation in this country, I’ve had the similar feeling about my relatives who have passed on, particularly my father. He just wouldn’t BELIEVE what America’s become, the terrible way obama’s behaving, well described in your post, the way people are accepting it, the dishonest media, the lies, the political correctness, etc. The lack of self-reliance which built America, the freedom and hope we had seem all gone. It’s THE ONLY TIME I’m REMOTELY glad Dad’s not around…I’m glad he doesn’t have to see this, and I’m glad your dad doesn’t, either.
What a terrible state of affairs for this country.
BZ,
Excellent post and well thought out. I would only comment that I agree with you on two points: Our parents and grandparents wouldn’t recognize the country they built with their blood, sweat, and tears.
Secondly, the MSM is worthless and so in the tank that they should just fold and let Obama do the reporting. Reporters with rare exception, are afraid to ask a tough question and just allow Obama to rattle on and on in the “press conferences.”
I thought enemies lists were illegal?
I am sorry to hear the loss of your friend and a loss to the community of one who protects and serves.
Glad the deputy survived his encounter with the punks.
Also hope you are holding up well.
Today has not been a good day, for news on a personal level.
BZ sorry to hear about your friend. It’s always messed up to hear about a person passing that left young children. RIP.
Things look dark for you so keep up your faith and have some fun! I don’t mean to sound lame, but this past couple of years have been pretty challenging for many Americans. The best way to get out of a funk is to have fun eating good food and hanging with buddies.
As to our nation, some could argue that the Patriot Act under Bush was similar to what the current administration is doing, but I daresay these guys don’t even try to be covert!
Plain and simple, if you disagree with their human hating leftist agenda, then you are a card carrying KKK member.
I have gotten a LOT of shit on sites I visit because I don’t like our presidents’ policies and ain’t afraid to say so. I get the SPLC newsletter and magazine and saw to my horror that sovreign citizen movement was likened to white supremacists.
So the MSM all the way down to the liberal papers are creating a very nasty picture of people who simply DEMAND that the President and Congress follow the Constitution. Ain’t that a bitch?!
I’ve been cussing so much online this year because these foul words describe my feelings. I too am hurt about the state of our nation. The question is what can be done now? After all they are trying to make it mandatory to take swine flu vaccines, while Congress passed legislation to give the pharma companies exemptions from getting sued if someone has a reaction to the vaccine.
Clearly big changes need to happen.
On the ethnicity thing, Obama has showed us that politicians are corrupt irrespective of color. Basically they are all untrustworthy.
Mr. Z – My deepest sorrow to you on the loss of a comrade in arms, a defender of the thin, blue line. My condolences to her family who now face very troubled times. My sympathy to yet another officer wounded in the line of duty, while our society frays and the tears go deeper every day.
Those who defend the idea of a common law are now the targets of attack by those who want special law decided by others. That will lead to no good end.
The US is not the leading contributor to pollutive gases: that is now China, and India racing to overtake the US, too. As we grow more efficient, more capable, we pollute less as that reduces waste…the spread of technology does that, yet China is not high tech and India striving to be so even with millions in abject poverty. The poor in the US are amongst the richest of people on this Earth and no longer fear starvation but obesity: that is not poverty by any scale or scope of the imagination.
Those who wish their dogma to rule want no questions and want the diversity of one opinion, only, and brook no others, listen to no others, and when presented with data to the opposite of their dogma, they, like any sclerotic organization, choose dogma over everything. Thus when you hear sweet mouthing of words for ‘diversity’ and see them shutting down debate, they wish the diversity of the echo chamber and their own words repeated to them soothingly day after day. Instead of civil discussion and reason, we get Purple Shirted thugs and enforcers… trying to shut down discourse between Congresscritters and the people they represent. When they can get any courage to do that, at all, that is. Wanting no debate, castiging others for daring to think and reason on their own, running from venues of public speech to hold government accountable, we now find that these unworthies and their sycophants do not want diversity but conformity to their mandate.
We are soon coming to the ‘you and what army, bub?’ time of that. The Left can step away from name calling, from intimidation, from thugs, from incitement against those who just disagree with them… yet, like petulant 5 year olds they cannot stop their mouths and engage their minds. When they don’t insult you they say you are lying. When they don’t say you are lying they call you racist. When they don’t call you racist they place their own motivation of dogma upon YOU and then say YOU are the one following dogma… even after you tell them you are more than willing to discuss things in a civil manner. The Left closes their minds and their fists, their fingers point at themselves in blame when they use them.
They wanted an activist America.
Now they see how Americans become active and don’t like it.
Too bad.
You were not careful what you wished for. Time to stop the wishing and faery stories before there is blood on the streets. Then it will be too late.
Our society frays.
The thin blue line wavers…
thanks for this great blog, we need to hear this over and over again…
Z: yes, like you, that’s essentially the ONLY reason I wouldn’t want my parents and grandparents back. It would hurt them so, to see what their nation has become.
LOT: on which points do you disagree? I would be curious.
Wordsmith: thank you. 2009 has simply not been a stellar year. How are things on your end, sir?
Mahndisa: I would submit the Patriot Act had a specific targeting system: those who actually would try to take down America, not everyday Joes. And yeah, imagine that, pissed because average Americans actually want Congress and Washington to adhere to its founding documents. As you so clearly point out: Mr Obama isn’t about “change”; he’s JUST like Everyone Else.
AJ: spot on. The Left wanted an Activist America? Looks like they’re in the process of getting it.
BZ
Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Sometimes the sorrow of everyday life can be overwhelming. Just remember that even in the darkest time good will prevail despite our current national dalliance with a socialist agenda. People are starting to wake up. Blogs like this are making sure that people are informed. Keep the faith brother. I know it has been said before but remember it took four years of Carter to get eight years of Regan.
BZ – A powerful post, indeed.
Please convey our condolences to those families that are hurting. I have the ultimate respect for LEOs – they are one of the few professions that literally put their lives on the line for the rest of us. My neighbor is a Sheriff’s Deputy with a wife & two daughters, and we have had many conversations on law-enforcement issues.
Once again, we have been lied to by politicians promising change for the better, and getting change for the worse. They were elected under what I would term false pretenses, and scream when the American people are demanding accountability for their actions. They promised that business in our government was going to change, and they are being held to it.
They don’t like it one bit – good! They shouldn’t.
BZ I am SO SORRY about the loss of your friend. Mother of 4, what a loss.
Conservative: thank you most kindly for visiting, and thanks for taking the time to comment. Please visit frequently, sir!
Dirty Copper: yes, you’re precisely correct about the Carter/Reagan reference.
Tom: thank you for your kind words. Finally — though it’s “only” taken 7 months — people are beginning to “wise up” regarding Our Hero.
Jenn: thank you; we were all simply glad that her husband wasn’t with her at the time, and all the kids.

What “America has become.” We have become a nation that finally extends health care to children, a country that acknowledges global warming, a country that is trying to fix the economy the idiots left us in the past 8 years, a county that will not invade a country based on lies and kill millions. That’s’ what this country has become’ you fucking losers.
My prayers for your colleagues and their families.
It does look very dark, but we can’t give up. They may deceive themselves into believing they are the good guys, but we know better. And people are finally waking up. A bit late perhaps but better late than never.

1. The greatest bulk of healthcare is required by elders, not children, you ignorant fuck. 90% of healthcare costs occur in the final two years of a person’s life.
2. Global Warming has still not been statistically proven. The Earth proffers cycles. Man cannot by himself kill this planet. This world and its future lies in the hands of a Higher Power MUCH beyond YOU.
3. Three points I disagreed with Bush: A) Spending ANY dollars for AIDS in Africa: LOSER. B) Forgetting that he had a budget VETO. C) Folding on TARP.
4. Anything beyond that is YOUR guy’s doing. Uh, like the BILLIONS and BILLIONS spent on so-called “stimulus” and to stave off various businesses from going bankrupt; oh yeah, that’s right, they went bankrupt ANYWAY.
5. Invading Iraq: uh, Mister Stupid, MILLIONS were NOT killed. You LOSE the fact high card. PLUS, all of YOUR Demorats SIGNED OFF on Iraq.
6. You keep on supporting Our Hero. My guess is that you’re not disagreeing with Mr Obama because you don’t make a sufficient wage to be primarily impacted.
You keep on pressing the CHEESEBURGER button at McD’s, dude.
BZ
BZ,
Sorry if I gave the impression that I disagreed with you on this post. Far from it. In fact, your reply to Anonymous, don’t you love them?, was right on. My point was that through our shared experience of losing our fathers, I have often contemplated what would they think now?
Our country seems to be falling into the abyss and as you said it’s time to take action to save it. It seems that people have awakened in some good numbers and are challenging these government leeches.
About time.
Sorry to here of the loss of one friend and the wounding of the other. I do not envy you or any other member of law enforcement, especially in times like I fear we are about to enter. If they don’t start hearing the voices, they may start hearing something louder. I hate to see it come to that, but I would not bet against it.
