The DEM: Again, What You WON’T Read

QUAILGATE!

The DEM (Defeatist, Elitist Media) have their collective panties in a bunch once again, only this time it’s about VP Cheney sending birdshot into his 78-year-old friend — who is sitting up in bed this morning and laughing about the incident.

If you read closely between the lines and listen to the news conference, the complaint is that it took 14 hours for the DEM to be “notified.” Their issue — I should say, the WASHINGTON media’s issue — is that some rinky-dink “local” paper (in Corpus Christi) was notified by the ranch owner but no one placed THEM, the VERY IMPORTANT Washington Press Corps, into the loop. They got scooped! Zounds! Heresy!

About the $7 upland game bird stamp? What you won’t read is that this new law came into effect as of January 1st, 2006, and the Veep already had a check in the mail. From the Drudge Report:

— A member of the Vice President’s staff wrote a check for 140 dollars understanding that this would purchase a Texas non-resident season hunting license that would permit the Vice President to hunt quail in Texas. It appears now that the license itself cost 125 dollars, and an extra 15 dollars covered the cost of a Federal migratory bird stamp. The Vice President did not need the Federal stamp, as he already possessed one.

— The staff asked for all permits needed, but was not informed of the 7 dollar upland game bird stamp requirement.

— Because the requirement is new, the Department has informed us that it is issuing warnings, and the Vice President expects to receive one. He will take whatever steps are needed to comply with applicable rules.

CHENEY NEEDS TO RESIGN! was the mantra at the news conference. Poor Scott McClellan — but at least he had the huevos to counter the charge with “that’s a ridiculous question.” The real issue is that the DEM became offended: they got scooped by “lesser mortals!”

Remember “back then” when the public was told it was no one’s business if Clinton unzipped his pants in the Oval Office? So now it’s everyone’s business when there’s a hunting accident, off duty, on the weekend, on a private person’s ranch, involving a VP “less than popular” with the DEM?

I’m certain your employer, hearing that you got into a vehicle accident and another party was injured, would fire you in response to the rest of your co-workers calling for your head.

When it was discovered that Cheney shot a Republican lawyer, his popularity jumped 20 points.

Q: What’s the difference between Gore and Cheney?

A: Gore shoots his mouth off.

About that Al Gore — and again, what you WON’T READ:

On Sunday, speaking in Jiddah on Saudi Arabian soil, at the Jeddah Economic Forum, Al Gore said that the U.S. government committed “terrible abuses” against Arabs after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and that most Americans did not support such treatment. Gore said Arabs had been “indiscriminately rounded up” and held in “unforgivable” conditions. The former vice president said the Bush administration was playing into al-Qaida’s hands by routinely blocking Saudi visa applications.

“The thoughtless way in which visas are now handled, that is a mistake,” Gore said during the Jeddah Economic Forum, at the Jeddah Hilton. “The worst thing we can possibly do is to cut off the channels of friendship and mutual understanding between Saudi Arabia and the United States.”

Gore told the largely Saudi audience, many of them educated at U.S. universities, that Arabs in the United States had been “indiscriminately rounded up, often on minor charges of overstaying a visa or not having a green card in proper order, and held in conditions that were just unforgivable.”

Who sponsored Al Gore’s presence at the conference? That would be The Bin Laden Group among others, per Bill Bennett.

  1. Now THIS is some big news story… An almost president … very close… was funded by the very people who slaughtered 3000 of our poeple… Our ALMOST commander in chief.. Of course, you know, the Cheney..”incident” is more of a headline.. It is more worthy of detail… SHEESH>>>>>

WHere is the press hammering old AL? Instead, they are saying, as you mentioned… “Cheney should resign”.. Blo, is this not beyond tabloid and into the twilight zone… These people have lost their minds..

  2. Guaranteed Rebecca, my last sentence will be either completely buried or not mentioned at all. Period.

QUAILGATE will be running the headlines for the next few days because the Fourth Estate got its collective Washington Bureau nose out of joint.

    Here’s the real issue:

‘David, hold on, the cameras aren’t on right now,’ Scott McClellan replied. ‘You can do this later.’

‘Don’t accuse me of trying to pose to the cameras,’ Gregory said, voice rising. ‘Don’t be a jerk to me personally when I’m asking you a serious question.’

‘You don’t have to yell,’ McClellan said.

‘I will yell,” said Gregory, pointing a finger at McCellan at his dais. ‘If you want to use that podium to try to take shots at me personally, which I don’t appreciate, then I will raise my voice, because that’s wrong.’

‘Calm down, Dave, calm down,’ said McClellan.

‘I’ll calm down when I feel like calming down,’ Gregory said. ‘You answer the question.’

This is an embarrassing incident for the Veep. But the press will keep it on Front Street because they were personally embarrassed and they hate the Bush Admin and Cheney as well.

  3. Well BZ, I am glad you point out the things you do… Good job my friend…

The media whores are pissed off and they are desperate… That’s a dangerous combination…

  4. I have been RANTING on this ALL DAY!! (LOL)-several posts!! At Rebecca’s I mentioned about the $7 and that was as good as they could get. I think it is hilarious that the ELITE media reporters were left out. Unfortunately, we just had breaking news of a minor heart attack of the Lawyer friend. I am familar w/this F.I.B. problem w/the heart b/c I suffer w/it.

As far as Gore….WHOO…I blasted him the last two days. Out of breathe…
    Excellent post: BZ (smiling)

  5. TexasFred: thank you most kindly, good sir. I think two major factors — no, make that two major and one minor factor(s) are extant:

    1. Underlying hatred of Bush via Cheney (“getting” Cheney is darned near as satisfying as “getting” Bush);
    2. Umbrage that the WPC wasn’t in the pipeline, and earlier, with the resulting scoop acquired by a pissant, little, winky undeserving paper;
    3. Guns were involved. Guns = bad.

Suzie: let’s examine things today, shall we? Iran is saying the Holocaust didn’t occur; they want to wipe Israel off the map; we are turning some of our ports over to UAE-run businesses; Gore sides with the Saudis and

    TA-DAA!

Cheney having a shooting accident is the most important shot on the screen.

You know, I couldn’t make up shit this crazy; no one would believe it.

  6. Blo, True and very sad our country has become this petty while a war is being fought, and our security is being compromised by the idiots the white house press supports.

Honestly blo, i may slow down a bit with blogging even though i think it is fun. Really because of this kind of crap. It is mere tabloid nonsense. The media is nothing but a big tabloid. The libs are literally like little children.. The bully down the street that never got spanked. It is getting boring talking about it,yet at the same time unbelievable that this is where the left is in our country.

  7. As I said BZ…what’s the big deal? Hell. I salute Cheney. he shot a lawyer, the lowest life form on earth. Kudos to him! And beware this $7 stamp thing. The first step to registration. Take it from a Canuckistani who knows!

  8. Great post! Suzie posted on how O’Reilly and Gibson are saying the same thing. And I heard Hannity bring it up today too.

Lets see, an accidental shooting by the VP or a former VP being paid by Bin Laden’s family. Which one would someone with common sense think is the bigger deal? Hello??

Saw on Lone Pony’s blog that you were going to propose to your girlfriend. Hope it went well and if it did Congrats!!

  9. JT, it’s NOT a 1st step, we’ve had registration for years…

All that stamp is, is a money making source…

In Louisiana we had a hunting license, a *Big Game* license, for deer, duck stamps and fishing license…

The registration thing is *old hat* down here…

  10. Just kidding about the intentional thing. It was probably bad judgement to shoot what you couldn’t see, but we are talking birdshot here. Not a rifle from the book repository building. “Texas Fred” will know what I am refering to. I think that when Cheney does finally give in and decide to make a public statement he should walk out. Calmly place a shotgun on the podium and ask if there are any questions.

  11. I wrote a satire about Quailgate over at my place. Originally, it was supposed to be a satire of the story, but after re-reading it, I realized it’s a satire of the press.
