The flying dream:

This video has gone berserkly viral (as opposed to the City of Berserkeley), but because of its absolute and stark beauty, I’ve decided to post it here and now instead of waiting for the weekend.

Someone, somehow, managed to attach a GoPro HD camera to the back of a golden eagle somewhere in Europe.  And what results is an incredible expression of the freedom of predators, the freedom of flight, and the freedom of our dreams.

I’ll submit that no person has ever not had “the flying dream.”

It is the greatest liberator of our brains, of our consciousness, of our very and literal souls.

I quite cannot get enough of this video.  I’ve played it at least twenty times in the past two days, due to its simple majesty.  Please click on the video and expand to its complete breadth and depth, then enhance with sound.  Listen to the wind.  Watch the eagle pump its wings.

Can you imagine?  To have the capability to fly with the muscles in your body as does this raptor?  Can you imagine?

This is one case in which technology melds with beauty and environment.

And that’s just two minutes of an eagle’s life.

  1. You could try hang gliding or paragliding. Its the closest you or anyone can get. That does NOT include the idiots in the pseudo-flying suits!

      • This looks real but is it? I’m thinking it could be taken from a hang glider or something similar and the eagle is photoshopped into the video to make it look like it was filmed from the eagle’s back. What do you think?

        • Considering the end of the video is the eagle coming in to a landing between two trees that are WAAAY too narrow for a hang glider, yeah, it’s been photoshopped in and the guy who posted the vid trashed his hang glider and risked killing himself to make it look like an eagle’s POV.
