We had a retirement dinner for a fellow employee last night. He was retiring after 28 years and we had gathered at an Outback to present him with a plaque, a certificate and to honor his work. No sooner had we sat down than another employee told us all that my good friend had called to say he was coming to the dinner. His mother had been given two weeks to live. We hadn’t expected him at all, for obvious reasons.
A few moments later, we learned that his mother passed away earlier in the day. Yet, despite that, he appeared at the dinner with Christmas cards for all, wishing us well. He said that his mother had passed in an incredibly peaceful fashion.
He still came to the dinner in order to honor his co-worker. My friend is an amazing man of faith.
Goodbye to you, Mrs. Murray, and God Bless.

I just tagged you for a Christmas Meme. Head on over to my blog and check it out….
I hope your friend is doing well BZ your friend seems strong internally. We all will someday take that journey that his mother just took and hopefully we will be able to face it with bravery. Glad to see you all enjoyed your dinner and get together and had a good time BZ after 28 years on the job your co worker deserved a plaque now he can retire and enjoy the remainder of his life.
You have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays too BZ and your family and fiancée included.
By Chance
I think this man must be an exceptional friend, BZ. What strength of character he possesses; that couldn’t have been easy for him. Your friend’s mother is now with God and free of pain, but it’s still hard on those of us who are left behind.
God bless you and yours, BZ. May all of you have a wonderful Christmas.
Sues: I’ll do just that.
Chance: thank you for the kind words and yes, he is a very strong man of faith and it is that faith that keeps him going.
Gayle: I know for a fact that it was NOT easy for him yet he did it anyway, when he might have been sharing his time with family and friends at home following the passing of his mother. He is indeed unique and strong.
Merry Christmas to all.
