Here’s what occurred yesterday:
Speaker Pelosi excoriated Bush and his regime. Then turned around and asked for votes to support Bush on the $700 billion bailout.
Idiot?
Oh, and then the market tanked almost 800 points. This government is, essentially, top to bottom, so rife with political corruption — with those on both sides of the aisle convinced their sole job is to feather their own personal nests only.
Part II:
And has the world stopped revolving on its axis? Apparently not yet.

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.
Yesterday the American people spoke and they spoke very loudly. They called and wrote their congress people, Liberal and Conservative and told them they have had enough of these scare tactics.
7% of the population is in trouble, the other 93% are doing just fine and they spoke out, send these asshats down the road.
This will be VERY interesting to see how it pans out, eh?

Looks like I’m agreeing with Ranando on this one, BZ. The American people did ideed make those calls. Most of them didn’t want that bill passed. Interestingly enough, the DOW is the same today as it was yesterday and we have the benefit of gas prices going down. But you’re right… we’ll have to wait and see how this pans out, and you’re right about Pelosi being an idiot!
It’s all going to work out just fine and for the better, believe me.
This is the Unites States of America and the last time I looked, still a Capitalistic Society. When one bank or stock house goes down, there will be some new entrepreneurs ready to step in and make it even better than before. There’s nothing wrong with sweeping the dirt out once in awhile.
Bush once again said, My way or the Highway, the American people said No Way.
A plan will pass and it will be a much better plan for the people than the first plan. Never agree on the first offer, business 101, there’s always something better if you negotiate.
I applauded everyone that voted against this first bill, it renews my faith in our system.
The American people rule! We are tired of this and are more educated with the new media than we have ever been. WE aren’t as dumb as the elitists in congress think we are.
Curious though that when Bush and Pelosi (and Obama, I’m not sure about McCain) both wanted the same thing the Americans said no.
Let the chips fall. The world didn’t end today. If it is so much of an emergency, why are they in recess?
This has been amazing to watch, and with the response from the American people, and the house Republicans being on the right side of this, it could cause a lot of problems for Obama when the dust settles.
I really dont see the point in bailing out the companies that put us in this mess just because of the less than 4 Milliom mortgages that are in trouble. Thats $175000
for each bad mortgage. Hell for 175K mine would be paid off with a good chunk of extra left in my pocket.
I refuse to have Congress bailed out of its insane ideas on the economy. This is not just the fault of Freddie, Fannie, ACORN, La Raza but also that of the Democratic Party and their willing help from the Republican Party for going on 30 years. Did you see how many Republicans *did* ‘cross the aisle’ in the spirit of ‘bipartisanship’?
And got their butts handed to them by the other side of the aisle?
Those are more than just RINOs: they are idiots, fools and willing helpers in this mess. I damned well don’t want any ‘bipartisanship’ as it means – hand over what the Democrats want and cry about it afterwards.
Let these damned things fail and then REPEAL the CRA and all legislation that puts the government INTO the home loan business. It is a long-term failure and so open to abuse that it is NOT a ‘public good’. And I would seriously start looking at just what has been handed over to the Fed and SEC as they have been pipsqueaks in their duty to the American people. If these are supposed to be the stewards of the economy, then it is time to seriously look at turning their jobs over to people interested in it. Which isn’t the federal government, apparently.
I’ve had it with this inanity… I don’t want any more ‘government help’ for anyone, or ‘government protection’ beyond equal enforcement of the law, keeping our borders safe and ensuring threats of the foreign and domestic sort don’t destroy the place. Government can’t do this job well or effectively just like our founders TOLD US.
