Video from the interior of an Airbus A319, the craft is going to land at Paro, Bhutan. Early in the video you can see the Jeppesen chart for Paro clipped to the window ledge of the pilot. Final approach includes a very low hard right, then an even lower hard left. All planes must perform a 180-degree pivot at the end of the runway to acquire the terminal.
My question early on: where is the airport?

This IS very high altitude runway. Planes drop quickly in it w/o lift concentration.
Pucker factor 100%
Try flying into St. Barth’s!
St Barth’s is loved, though, by the people at the beach when the 747s run up their engines. . .they get blown into the ocean.

When I was there over 30 years ago the airport could not handle more than a commuter prop plane…must have built a new airport since then. We landed by flying over a hill and then diving straight down for a small runway.
Yeah, not a fun day in the ‘office’ if that is regular route for them, but still nothing compared to what Air America flew into in Nam and Laos… 🙂
