A new Arizona law considered among the nation’s toughest against employers who hire illegal immigrants will go into effect on Jan. 1 after federal judges on Friday refused to block it.
Both a United States district judge in Phoenix and a federal appeals court in San Francisco, ruling on separate lawsuits by business and civil rights groups, declined to stand in the way.
The law calls for suspending the license of an employer found to have knowingly hired an illegal worker, and revocation for a second offense.
PHOENIX (AP) — Illegal immigrants in Arizona, frustrated with a flagging economy and tough new legislation cracking down on their employers, are returning to their home countries or trying their luck in other states.
For months, immigrants have taken a wait-and-see attitude toward the state’s new employer-sanctions law, which takes effect Jan. 1. The voter-approved legislation is an attempt to lessen the economic incentive for illegal immigrants in Arizona, the busiest crossing point along the U.S.-Mexico border.
And by all appearances, it’s starting to work.
I hate to say it, shoot me if you must.
What party does the Governor belong to?
No need to anwser.
Russell Pearce wrote the bill and he’s a Republican.
That’s a shocker.

The MSM does not want illegal immigration to be the big issue because it’s a loser for the left, who wants all those future voters.
Notice that a number of families are leaving… this is ‘self-deporting’ and a very good way to go after the problem. We do not have to ‘deport them all’ if they leave voluntarily.
Now it is time for the Congress to end its double talk and get a physical barrier paid for and constructed. This idiotic game of backtracking on what they pass just so they can ask the question until they get the ‘proper’ response reminds me of the EU voting for the Constitution – just keep on sending to the voters until they finally accept it. I will be very interested to see how Sen. ‘if they want a damned wall then we will give it to them’ McCain views this. My guess is that he is all for lying over and over to try and get the right answer.
The entire Congress and Presidential field is SOS: Stuck On Stupid.
Personally, I don’t care HOW it happens, the example has been set, I wish Texas would enact the law the right now, enforce it, with great zeal…
The example has been set as Fred says; now if the rest of the country will follow suit…
