12 dead in Colorado midnight movie shooting: here come the shouts for GUN CONTROL

Whilst the rest of the nation slept, a 24-year-old male entered a midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises” at the Century 16 theatres in Aurora, Colorado, and opened fire with a rifle, shotgun and handgun — killing 12 and wounding 36 at last update.

Any mass killing like this is a tragedy.  And a perfect, again, political opportunity for the Left to decry the possession of firearms by the electorate.

As Paul Joseph Watson writes:

“Within hours of the tragic shooting in Aurora, Colorado at a screening of the new Batman movie, the political machine is already gearing up to exploit the incident as a tool to demonize the second amendment and characterize Americans who are against big government as extremists.”

Piers Morgan from CNN has already written:

Horrendous details from this Colorado cinema shooting. America has got to do something about its gun laws. Now is the time.

More Americans will buy guns after this, to defend themselves, and so the dangerous spiral descends. When/how does it stop? #Colorado

— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 20, 2012

Lunatics like this will always try and get guns. It should be 100,000 times harder than it is for them to do so. That’s my point. #Colorado

ABC News, you’ll be pleased to read, is already indicating the shooter has TEA Party links.  How novel!

ABC’s Brian Ross reported this morning that there is “a Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado, page on the Colorado Tea party site… talking about him joining the Tea Party last year.”

Breitbart is indicating the shooter may be a registered Democrat.

Again — wouldn’t that be novel indeed?

Time will tell.

I can only conclude:

It’s clearly time to gather all your firearms and place them at the end of your driveway, with all your ammunition, like the good prole the current American Government wishes you to be.

  1. As said many years ago by Charlton Heston,,,”you will have to pry my cold dead hands from my weapon(weapons) in order to get them” !!!

When Brady was shot by James Hinckley in April 1980, or was it ’81, the demon howl went out from the socialist democrats.

This will always be this way as long as ANY DEMOCRAT still is alive on this planet!

If you are one of the so-called conservative democrats, then you better change party lines NOW, as I have lumped you into the same boiling pot of oil that I throw all democrats into.

So, Patriots out there, this IS the beginning of the OBAMA cry for all guns to be confiscated.

Timing is everything. I have been waiting.

    • Deo vindice…

An Obama *confiscation* order would result in a not so CIVIL war, and Obama had best consider this; at least 75% of ALL police and military WILL stand with the MILLIONS of U.S. gun owners…

Reports have said that at least 47% of ALL Americans admit to having a gun, or guns, in their possession… That would be somewhere around 150 MILLION people…

Yeah, come get em Obama… Come on.. We’re waiting for you…

  2. First and foremost, I want to offer my most sincere condolences to the families of the victims of this INSANE person.

That said; Batman movies feature deranged criminals being pursued by a deranged crime fighter, in tights. Apparently these folks thought the only deranged persons they would see would be those on the screen.

And for crying out loud; were the no Concealed Handgun License holders in this crowd?

  3. And think, MrC and TF, how simple things might have been in Aurora, at Lubey’s, at San Ysidro, and any number of other incidents had there been one individual “carrying.”

  4. But…but… AMC is a ‘gun free’ zone… er… except for the criminal… Thoughts and prayers go out for those victims and their families!

    • NFO, indeed, no one wants to see anyone die by simply attending a movie, for Christ’s sake!

That said, I suspect info will show this is a nutjob with a gun and NO TEA Party associations. Just a nut who deserves and will be prosecuted. Now it’s just up to Colorado law. They’d BEST do THEIR jobs for justice!

  5. I am going to comment again,,,,IF you do not presently have a CHL, and are qualified to apply for one,,,THEN GO GET ONE NOW!!!! NOW!!!!!

There is absolutely no excuse, again, no excuse to not have one .

BZ is exactly correct,,, that there were no CHL carry human beings in this movie theater.

I can 100% GUARANTEE you that if this was to happen in my town here in TEXAS, This Holmes piece of shit would have been shot in a hail of returning fire. 100% sure.

  6. Condolences to the victims. Evil thoughts for parents who took their young children to a PG-13 movie.

Gun free zone. Biggest surprise, since Aurora is gang banger central, that someone in the crowd didn’t shoot him. Guess the genre didn’t attract gang bangers.

    • WSF, early reports indicated there were infants present and 6-year-olds. So YES, terrible SHAME on those SELFISH parents.

Apparently Batman doesn’t attract the rap crowd.

  7. I thought at first you were quitting, whew!!

Guns don’t kill people, it’s the person that is operating the gun that does. And most people that have registered weapons and licenses would not go off in some killing spree. This psychotic and evil person had planned this very carefully, just like any vile terrorist. He even rigged his home with explosives to kill even more innocent people.

Right now, the only focus should be is praying for families who lost their loved ones early this morning and those that were injured.

    • Nope, Leticia, sorry, not quitting.

Criminals commit criminal acts. It’s what they do.

And yes, that should be the immediate focus.

  8. The ‘gunman’ was most likely in the theater as an early arrival or for the previous film perhaps even an earlier showing of the same movie. The rear exit, always locked, had to be tampered with. I’m betting he used an Allen wrench on the crash bar. Weapons cannot be safely banned in public places unless the points of access are properly controlled. If it is true that weapons were/are prohibited, then the theater is liable as they failed to provide a secure environment by banning weapons on their properties, leaving their patrons sitting ducks. The National Park Service should take note as they ban weapons, and every time a person is shot, mugged, raped, or assaulted in D.C., they should sue the District. If you cannot protect the public and you disallow them to protect themselves, then you are liable every time there is an attack.
I am surprised no class action suits of this nature have either occurred or gained any attention.
