3:10 to Yuma

The new James Mangold film (director, Walk The Line), 3:10 to Yuma, is absolutely excellent.

Wonderful acting by Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, Peter Fonda. An old fashioned, classic Western with bad guys, good guys, good bad guys, and bad good guys. Highly recommended; you won’t be disappointed.

  1. It was the quintessential Western; good story, good and bad, man struggling with Self, exquisite and beautiful backdrop, great “western town” sets and, wow, did the SOUND ever “pop.” The sound was, for me, somehow like you were THERE.

  2. Both Walt and I love Westerns, BZ, but we don’t like movie theaters. We’ll have to wait for it to come out on DVD, but I’ll be sure to order it. Thanks!

  3. Gayle: I’m lucky; there are small theaters “kind of” in the area where I live that are nothing like the huge “Century 32 Screen” theaters and whatnot. The people are predominantly cordial, predominantly quiet, predominantly older, and predominantly AMERICAN in nature.

I’ve been to GigaPlexes in Southern Fornicalia where every make and manner of asshole, gangbanger, multicultural shitstick, baby-daddy parent, infants, rude children et al can absolutely RUIN the theater experience. Where they pitch the soda and popcorn at you, and YOU apply the “butter” because THEY can’t be bothered with something as mundane as that.

Wow. Rant completed. See it on DVD; you won’t be disappointed.
