Yes? No? He has in fact ordered boots on the ground, but not with regard to ISIS. Instead, with regard to Ebola. A laudable idea; expose our 3,000 warriors to a disease with a 90% fatality rate.

His generals say so. He says no. Mr Obama is quite insistent about this.

Absolutely stupid idea… Military men/women ARE NOT equipped or trained for fighting something that actually falls into the NBC area. All they are trained in is MOPP gear, and not the protocols for actually handling an ongoing situation like they will be facing. New AMERICAN ebola victims in three… two….
Nothing is being said about rules of engagement. They are going to a part of the world where crime is a way of life. Even if their assignment is logistical support for the medical people, they will be facing looters and corrupt local government officials. Nothing is being said about status of forces agreements. Given the past performance of the State Department numbnuts, these type of questions probably are being ignored.
WSF, and YOU sir have hit the nail on the proverbial head. This is a bad proposition, no matter how you slice it, and places our soldiers in another Somalian goatcluster. There is no thought given to this — but what should be expected from a man who gives little thought to much of anything?

What the hell are we sending troops to fight a virus for? Yes, it is bad,
however, our troops are not Doctors. They are warriors, and have no business in a biological environment that is not a war theater.
The whole thing is a huge vessel of excrement, the stench of which we cannot abide.
Besides the obvious, there is NO known vaccine for protection against it.
Sounds like another action to further weaken our own military. IT STINKS.

The ranks of Jr. Officers are now also being decimated. One of my special operator friends cannot get out soon enough.
It’s gonna take YEARS to repair the damage. I can only take comfort in the fact that I don’t live in L.A., NY, or Chicago.
