Bundy Ranch: we knew it wasn’t over

From KRNVNews4.com:

RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid hasn’t been very vocal about the cattle battle showdown in recent days, but says “it’s not over.”

Reid tells News4’s Samantha Boatman his take on the so-called cattle battle in southern Las Vegas. “Well, it’s not over. We can’t have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it. So it’s not over,” Reid said.

Of course it’s not over; the events moved into the “public relations abortion” side of the column — a situation the feds didn’t see coming.  They’ve pulled back, yes; but simply to regroup.  Reid is correct about that.

If this turns into an actual shooting scenario, I can’t think of another setting that has the potential to turn the western United States into a powder keg, with huge ramifications for the rest of the nation.

P.S.
Why no word about this?  I suppose solar projects don’t harm or inhibit the desert tortoise, but cattle do?

  1. I don’t know why Reid has any opinion at all or why we should care what it is. He is not a federal law enforcement agent. He is not a member of the Obama administration. He is not a spokesman for the BLM. He does not speak on behalf of the US government in any capacity. He is only one voice among 100 and that voice only carries weight in the Senate.

  2. If the shooting starts, history will show Bunkerville as the first battle of the next civil war. Would be better that the BLM send these agents to our southern border to combat the Mexican drug cartels. Easy to pick on ranchers. Requires a set of balls to go head to head with the cartels. But then again who’s making a buck from letting drugs enter this country and who’s making a buck by leasing the federal lands around Bunkerville?

    • Here’s my take: if Bundy owed money, the simplest thing would have been to place a lien on his property. That 200 agents descended, physically, onto his ranch meant that the BLM wanted a confrontation and wanted to make a clear statement.

  3. Wait a dang minute.
    “We can’t have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it.”
    But, Harry seems to have no problem with NON-Americans violating the law and then just walking away from it??

  4. The BLM took the land by fiat back in the 70″s under the guise to save the annihilation of the “desert tortoise”.
    Not long ago, the BLM had a huge program to go into this area and collect all the turtles they could find and bring them into a holding area to be taken to other parts of the land. Due to having too many, they just killed over a thousand instead of returning them to where they were originally found.
    BLM= bad land management.

  5. “We can’t have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it.”

    NO SHIT Sherlock!! Tell that to your buddies obummer and holder! And then to the fuckwad in your mirror!
