President Obama was caught on camera chewing gum during the D-Day ceremonies in France as Queen Elizabeth II was welcomed, and Twitter feeds worldwide exploded with criticism.
“Obama and his chewing-gum. Classy” one French user tweeted sarcastically.

Oh no, say it isn’t so.
As you know, I lived in Paris for four years, and I had a German husband who I lived with in Munich for a total of about a year. I am not at all surprised the French caught that HORRIBLE faux-pas because chewing gum is one of THE most undignified things a person can do in Europe. They hate it. And there was our president, who should have a protocol team ADVISING HIM. Or, he simply doesn’t give a damn, of course. chomp chomp chomp
