On The Road

Time to leave the wonderful ocean and northern Fornicalia coast and head back home — taking care of some very important personal business first.

Already I miss the place. If I could somehow afford it or wangle it, I’d live here in a heartbeat.

So no post today — we’re on the road again.

  3. I like cd’s that I can listen to from beginning to end, that I know every song by heart when I travel.

Heres a couple out favorites to travel to…..
    NIN – Pretty Hate Machine
My Chemical Romance – The Black Parade
    Prince – Purple Rain
    Bush – Sixteen Stone
    Depeche Mode – Violator
    The Killers – Hot Fuss

Hope you have a safe trip home with your new buddy!!

  4. Love Canned Heat! As for favorite ‘road’ song, can there be any question:

    Get your motor runnin’
    Head out on the highway
    Lookin’ for adventure
    And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin’ go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
    And explode into space

That would be Born to Be Wild by Steppenwolfe.

Fair winds and following seas, BZ.

  5. Tim: Highway Star by DP: very appropriate. Can’t go with the rap n stuff. Closest I’ll ever get is when I actually enjoyed “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” in a Steven Seagal movie.

    Lowrence: dude.

NFO: I’m assuming Willie and/or The Outlaws with “On The Road Again.”

Don’s Mind: White Line Fever? Check! That also made me think of Commander Cody And His Lost Planet Airmen!

PD: introduced Teddy to the pack last night after we got home, with some trepidation. The hesitancy was the larger black dog we’d gotten from Mendocino Humane Society last year. Something happened to her before we got her, and she still has pretty big insecurity issues. She was used to ruling the roost because she’s the largest dog, and there was a pretty decent sized fight last night. Now, when Teddy growls, she turns her head away — so I think he’s starting to establish some dominance though he’s a smaller kid.

We were told he’s 5 years old, but we think he’s older than that. Plus, he just recently got — ahem — “cut,” so he’s not terribly pleased with being chopped at such an advanced age. Matter of fact, right now, he’s lying at my feet in a grey dog sweater as I type.

My Chemical Romance (specifically The Black Parade!) — I first heard them on a The Sopranos episode. They played “Mama” and I thought: I gotta find out who those guys are!

So, do you like the song “Teenagers” and was it applicable?

Z: I saw them when Bob “Big Bear” Hite was still alive — after Al Wilson died, so I missed his harp work — and they were great! I saw them during their “Historical Figures & Ancient Heads” tour.

Shoprat: internet! Woo-hoo! And yes it was Lobo.

  6. Glad to hear the kids are “starting” to get along. The pack has been changed so its natural for the order of dominance to be challenged.

My sister has a chihuahua the same age as my Jake. Been together since they were pups. And when she’s around….she rules. She’s 5lbs, Jakes 80lbs. lol So size doesnt matter in this situation!

Glad to hear they’re all adjusting. In a couple of weeks they’ll be best friends. =)

And yes as a “Teenager” I was a hellion. Did you have a doubt?? lmao!
But, “Sleep” is my favorite song on the CD. Its funny you picked that one CD out of those I listed. Since I’d written that yesterday, I had an urge to hear only one of those bands and woke up this morning and put on the Black Parade and listened to it. Very Loud. As thats the best way to appreciate it.

Glad your all home safe and sound. I want to see your other pups too! Post picks when you get a chance on a slow news/political day.

  7. BZ,
When I was discharged from the military my two brothers came to Colorado for the drive back to Ohio. While en route I had a Carly Simon tape on the 8-track (yes I am that old).

My brother fell asleep with his knee against the tape so I couldn’t eject it. I listened to Carly for about four hours. She can sing and was hot in her day, but four hours? No one’s that good. Not my favorite road song.

  8. PD: still awaiting for who will claim dominance.

LOT: 8-tracks? Dude, when I was a kid I listened to 78s and then, in radio, when we played a song it was predominantly off 45s. LPs came later when I transitioned to AOR radio stations.

    THAT’S how old I am.

  9. I would have picked this Canned Heat, but since it’s taken, I really like John Fogerty’s Hot Rod Heart and Willie’s She Loves my Automobile.

I enjoyed this BZ. I love Canned Heat.

  10. Dear BZ,
late to the fair, but hey.

“Riders on the Storm” with the Doors,
    Allman Brothers “Midnight Rider”,
    of course Steppenwolf, oh yeah.
    Lucinda Williams “Joy”
    Patsy Cline “Walking After Midnight”

Glad to hear that Teddy’s working his way into the pack. That was a great thing for you to do. Since I cannot have a dog in my condo, I remain jealous.

Hon, you know you’re going to drive me to drinkin’,
if you don’t stop driving that
    Hot. Rod. Lincoln.
