[Note from BZ: The 76-year-old Seymour Hersh is a Pulitzer award winner, a George Orwell and Polk winner, who exposed the My Lai massacre in 1969 and reported on Abu Ghraib as well. He is no shill for Republicans or Conservatives whatsoever.]

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh has dropped yet another bombshell allegation: President Obama wasn’t honest with the American people when he blamed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for a sarin-gas attack in that killed hundreds of civilians.
In early September, Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States had proof that the nerve-gas attack was made on Assad’s orders. “We know the Assad regime was responsible,” President Obama told the nation in an address days after this revelation, which he said pushed him over the “red line” in considering military intervention.
But in a long story published Sunday for the London Review of Books, Hersh — best known for his exposés on the cover-ups of the My Lai Massacre and of Abu Ghraib – said the administration “cherry-picked intelligence,” citing conversations with intelligence and military officials.
That was, if you recall, the predicating event that Mr Obama wanted to use for an incursion into Syria including placement of “boots on the ground.”
Mr Hersh writes (from the London Review of Books):
Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack, the American intelligence agencies produced a series of highly classified reports, culminating in a formal Operations Order – a planning document that precedes a ground invasion – citing evidence that the al-Nusra Front, a jihadi group affiliated with al-Qaida, had mastered the mechanics of creating sarin and was capable of manufacturing it in quantity. When the attack occurred al-Nusra should have been a suspect, but the administration cherry-picked intelligence to justify a strike against Assad.
Please read both articles entirely. And please see my posts on Syria here and here and here and here and here.
Proving, once again, that Obama is
It turns out that Mr Obama is in fact a dangerous war monger.

Good post but no surprise, at least not to any *thinking* person…
Of course it isn’t.
But it’s AMAZING news to the besotted minds of the typical American Media Maggot studio and bullpen.

Just what I was going to say. I should read this sooner!
Abu Ghraib never was a cover-up.
The military had it taken care of almost before the MSM ran it into the ground.
And so how are we shocked?
No. Leftists created it into a Monster.

Sorry for the lengthy comment, BZ
Back in September, I wrote Feinstein stating I did not support any military action against Syria simply because the evidence at that time was unclear. There were reports that Al Qaeda was involved, and until we knew for certain, the US needed to stand by. This was her reply:
Dear Mr. Moorhead :
Please know that I am closely monitoring the situation in Syria. Because I want to share with you as fully as possible how I see it, I have attached a copy of the speech I gave on the Senate floor on September 11, 2013.
The evidence is clear that the Assad regime used chemical weapons in the August 21 attack in the Damascus suburbs, as it did roughly a dozen times before in smaller increments. We cannot turn our backs on this atrocity.
I very much hope and pray that the negotiation between the United States, Russia, and the United Nations Security Council can be successful and that the regime’s chemical weapons can be dismantled and destroyed. Should a diplomatic solution be achieved, I believe the need for any use of military force would be negated.
Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

In her speech, she painted a very thorough and detailed picture of the evils of Assad. At one point, she states “…Syria’s chemical weapons program is maintained and stored across Syria in more than three dozen sites. There are ‘indications’ that Syria currently has chemical weapons loaded and ready for immediate use in bombs, artillery, and rockets and already loaded on planes and helicopters…” [Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!] It seems to me that many sights containing NBC weapons would be hard to manage in a country with so many hostile forces, but I digress.
Not only is Obama a liar, but his minions in the senate and congress grovel at his feet, spinning the truth to support his tales. The truth is relative for whatever need arises to achieve one’s end game. Turning this country toward socialism allows for the Obamacare lies and IRS scandals. Making the US a second tier world power allows for Bengazis, and Putan stepping up in the 11th hour to stop the “incredibly small” military action against Assad.
For reference:
“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
The conundrum we face today is that President Obama IS the domestic enemy of the constitution.
In my opinion, that is entirely correct.
