The two sides of racism — Clippers owner Sterling vs Obama’s Jay-Z: cases of “Selective Outrage”

LA Clippers Protest Donald Sterling, OwnerYou know the story; 80-year-old Lost Angeles Clipper’s owner Donald Sterling made comments in private, in his home, with his girlfriend (in apparent violation of PC 632) regarding blacks.  Somehow, magically, mystically, those comments found themselves exposed to the light of day.

Donald Sterling & GirlfriendThese comments have been trotted over the entire internet in the course of a single day and excoriated from here to beyond.  That terrible man.  That horribly privileged and ancient racist.  Another Caucasoid who needs to die.

AMM - American Media Maggots 1That is the meme trotted out by the AMM (American Media Maggots), near and far, the clarion call to arms by the Left against those oppressive Corporatist Trafalgars.

That said, apparently Vanessa Stiviano, Mr Sterling’s girlfriend following his divorce from wife Rochelle Sterling, is black and Mexican.  And from that platform stems the various audio cuts against Donald Sterling.  The above photo is sufficient: Stiviano enjoyed nothing but the profits from the fiscal efforts of Mr Sterling.  And Mr Sterling enjoyed a hot chick on his arm.  Perhaps a few more “benefits.”

However, she clearly enjoyed:

A Ferrari, TWO Bentleys and a $1.4MILLION apartment.

  • Mr Sterling was recorded berating his girlfriend, Vanessa Stiviano, for posting a photo with Magic Johnson
  • Sterling tells Stiviano, who is Mexican and African-American, not to bring black people to games
  • He said that she can sleep with black people but he doesn’t want her to post pictures of herself with them on Instagram

Imagine that.  Give and take.

Trust me, Vanessa Stiviano wouldn’t deign to lower herself to be linked to you or me or 99.8% of the rest of the male universe.  It’s the buckage that brought tears to her eyes.

Until she felt that she had a card to play, which she threw down knowing, of course, that huge cash would be involved.

Supporting Magic Johnson who — oddly enough — has been pressing to purchase the LA Clippers?  A business competitionary stance against Sterling?  Even then, Sterling is not a particularly intelligent individual, as you have to be smarter than your money and smarter than your competition.  And know that most everything you say will be used against you if possible.  It also helps to not be a racist.

That said and known, let’s just step back for a moment, shall we?

What shall we think of Mr Obama’s support of Jay-Z, and his overtly racist medallion?

From the NYPost.com:

Jay-Z’s bling from ‘whites are devils’ group

by Gary Buiso

Black people are the fathers and mothers of civilization, white men are the devil, the Christian god is nothing more than a ghost and only a small percentage of people understand the world.

These are just some of the beliefs behind the bling — the gaudy Five Percent Nation medallions worn by Jay Z and Carmelo Anthony.

Last week, all eyes at the Barclays Center weren’t on Jay Z’s better half, Beyoncé — but on the coaster-size golden pendant swinging from the rapper’s neck as the couple sat courtside. Asked once if the group’s symbol — an eight-pointed star with the number 7 in the middle — held any meaning for him, the rapper shrugged, “A little bit.”

So what exactly do Five Percenters believe?

“The rationale is that the black man is God and created the universe, and is physically stronger and intellectually stronger and more righteous naturally,” says Michael Muhammad Knight, an author of two books on the radical group.

“Whiteness is weak and wicked and inferior — basically just an errant child who needs to be corrected.”

And there you go.

Selective Outrage.

Doesn’t play for me.

And shouldn’t play for you.

  1. A very old white guy who has lost his ability to realize that what he says is only important for blackmailers, etc.
He is deceived and his stupidity is shown.
Best he sell and get out of the limelight.
    No pity here.

  2. Thank you for your perspective, something you won’t even hear on Fox News. It’s probably a rare person who doesn’t make a racist comment now and then. Usually those most outraged are those who make such comments the most often.

  3. Since when did the nba trump the Constitution? Right or wrong, like it or not its called free speech. Looks to me like he just may become a lot richer after the lawsuit. But hey if you got 600 million to spend he may sell.

    • J.G., thanks for your comment and thanks for taking the time to visit. Please return frequently.

That said, I agree fundamentally but not specifically. I’m guessing Sterling had to agree to various contractual codicils regarding conduct. HOWEVER, this sets TERRIBLE precedent regarding the recording of comments thought to be PRIVATE and then exposed to the public.

  4. BZ, your comment about private conversations bolsters NFO’s comment, what if this was a set up? Apparently, Sterling’s views have been known for some years now, what if the “girlfriend” got tired of listening to his insanity and decided to act on it? as you typed, “Until she felt that she had a card to play, which she threw down knowing, of course, that huge cash would be involved”, she may be that greedy, but who actually knows what her motivation was. That’s not supposed to take away from your thoughts, just saying we don’t know her reasons yet.

As for this, ““Whiteness is weak and wicked and inferior — basically just an errant child who needs to be corrected”, I’d venture a guess that knight and jay z wouldn’t start spouting their racist bullshit at Daytona or Sturgis. lol
