So: what happens on Monday?
What has occurred to the DOJ? Where is Jeff Sessions? Who actually runs the US Department of Justice? Because, at this point, it appears to be Rod Rosenstein. Why is that?
How is it, also, that the DOJ and the FBI — any number of other Alphabet Agencies for that matter — seemingly possess the power to refuse demands by Congress to produce documents? By Congressmen and -women who do in fact hold the requisite security clearances to see and possess such information?

This can be interpreted as nothing more than the DOJ demanding to be completely unaccountable to Congress and by dint of that the American People. Lawful subpoenas were issued by Congress. DOJ is ignoring these legal demands. Congress has been waiting altogether too long. They have been altogether too patient. Now Congress must act.
The DOJ and — yes, let’s admit it — the FBI are now both nothing more than rogue agencies. The bias is rampant, the politicization is rampant — no matter what any talking heads at the DOJ or FBI say. The culture of both of these organizations comes from the top. Whatever the top addresses or doesn’t address or tacitly or quietly condones becomes the environment in which that agency operates.
I’ve said for some time that there is a crash coming and with it — now — a mandatory crisis of confidence. There must be a crisis of confidence. I do not believe the FBI, mostly, now. I do not believe the DOJ, mostly, now. I didn’t start out that way. I used to work for the FBI. I went to Quantico. But I have been dragged kicking and screaming into this current mindset.
We as Americans cannot continue to allow the DOJ and the FBI to operate in this dismissive, haughty, arrogant, irresponsible and unanswerable fashion. They believe that Americans and Congress answer to them, not the other way around.
That cannot stand.
If that means that we impeach DOJ and/or FBI officials, then so be it.
And if that means we rip these agencies apart, then so be it.

I really do not understand any of this. I mean, how is it possible in a law abiding society that so many can get away with ignoring the law and suffer zero consequences? How can Congress require things and when no response happens, they do nothing? Was it always thus? I always thought Congress was an entity to be taken seriously. Was this wrong? Has it become, in fact, irrelevant? Get called to testify, claim the Fifth over and over and then leave with no consequences. Why even bother to have hearings anyway. It just leads to grandstanding and, well, bloviating, by democrats and sometimes by repubs and I have yet to see any worthwhile outcomes despite the hours and days and weeks of ‘investigating’. What the hell is the point of it all?
People are elected to congress and spend the rest of their lives there. Few seem to care about The Country. No, it’s their own districts and special interests.
and the all holy political party and their own Power. Woe betide anyone thinking differently lest they be chastised for disloyalty, not to the Country but to the Party. I pledge allegiance to the chairman of the political party to which I belong and to the lobbyists and special interests it represents.
Oh, my. And another thing sticking in my craw. Congress passes laws, enacts legislation, WHY?? How many laws does a country need? How many thousands (millions??) of laws are already on the books? 20,000 just about the use and ownership of guns. 20,000!! Just for GUNS! New laws mean new possibilities for new crimes. We are becoming a nation of criminals and don’t know it. How about they start revising and reviewing and doing away with the outdated existing laws.
Dear Lord, I am fed up with it all. And yet, if you or I or anyone who is a peasant/serf/taxpayer were to flaunt a subpoena or not comply with an IRS ot FBI or DOJ requirement, gosh, what ever would happen? Would we be allowed to write a letter of explanation and all would be good? If I do not pay my taxes can I skate by for years like Rangel or Sharpton? Of course not. Because there is now, and has been for along time, the aristos and the peasants. And unlike in the French Revolution, if the peasants don’t start paying attention and show their teeth soon this divide will get bigger and more resistant and more autocratic. I am appalled that so many Americans seem so complacent with what is going on.
Why? Why do so many not seem to CARE??

Abigail, absolutely correct. This is a nation of insanity that makes little sense to me. I’m unsure, absent having an all-out civil war, how we get it back. And Leftists are pushing at an unprecedented rate. Look at what just occurred to Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kirstjen Nielsen. It’s as if Leftists really DO want violence. I don’t. But I won’t be trampled.
If Leftists want war, they will be so incredibly sorry they pushed for it.

BZ, how would one recognize the start of such a war? There would be no first shot fired at Concord nor attack on Pearl Harbor type of event. That would be too obvious. And too liable to rally opposition. Instead insidious, constant small attacks such as we are seeing and have been seeing for a long time, certainly at least since Inauguration Day.
How does one protect oneself from these attacks? As you rightly point out, they are pushing alarmingly. And what is the response? Nothing. No condemnation in the media, no counter protests or marches of outrage. Just…nothing. People are afraid to speak out, afraid for their jobs, families, safety. That is all I can think of as a reason for the overwhelming silence. And so the Leftists are encouraged and will continue and probably step up the intensity until a tragedy happens.
I suspect the war already HAS started.

My gut feeling is the Left will let their mouths overload their asses and the midterms will be a Red Dawn, not a Blue Wave. The citizens who voted for President Trump were sick of the Left’s shit and everyday their wisdom is being vindicated.

Notice how Chucky Schumer says the Democrats won’t work on immigration law until they control Congress? They say it is “Trumps” problem. How well will that play in “flyover country” where people may actually care about the plight of immigration children?
If it comes to a physical fight, what does the Left have? Their mouths and some levers of government. What do the rest of us have? 50% of the world’s small arms and organizations like the Oath Keepers (where I give financial support now). I would expect the majority of the military to sit it out.
