And the hate crime hoaxes just keep on coming

First, the situation and the article, from Breitbart.com:

Prosecutors Charge LGBT Activist with Burning Down Own Home with Pets Inside

by Joshua Caplan

Michigan prosecutors say Nikki Joly, a longtime LGBT activist, set fire to her home and killed her pets due to resentment from subsiding controversy over the enactment of nondiscrimination legislation he advocated for.

Let’s leave the identity politics out of this scenario for a moment. What kind of a sick and twisted person do you have to be in order to set your own home on fire for ________ motivation, knowing and then allowing your very own pets to immolate inside?

The Detroit News reported Monday that law enforcement charged Joly, a transgender man from Jackson, Michigan, burned down her own home, killing five pets inside, in what was initially investigated by the FBI as an alleged hate crime in 2017. The newspaper, citing two individuals who worked along Joly at St. Johns United Church of Christ, where the Jackson Pride Center is based from, reported that Jolly, 54, had become “frustrated the controversy over gay rights had died down with the passage of the nondiscrimination law.”

The Detroit News reported:

Meanwhile, a police investigative report suggests a possible reason for the fire.

Two people who worked with Joly at St. Johns United Church of Christ, where the Jackson Pride Center was located, said he had been frustrated the controversy over gay rights had died down with the passage of the nondiscrimination law, according to the report.

The church officials, Barbara Shelton and Bobby James, when asked by police about a possible motive for the fire, said Joly was disappointed the Jackson Pride Parade and Festival, held five days before the blaze, hadn’t received more attention or protests.

Continuing from the DN:

No one was home as flames leaped from the house Joly shared with Moore. But the home wasn’t unoccupied.

A neighbor, knowing the couple had pets, kicked in the front door but it was too hot to go inside, police said. When firefighters tried to open the back door, it was blocked by the body of a dog.

All five animals died: two German Shepherds and three cats.

Traces of gasoline were later found in five rooms on the first floor of the two-story, wooden-frame house, according to the police report.

Please allow me to pose a question if I may. Considering the extremely sensitive aspect of investigations of this nature — meaning that local departments have the easy ability to step on a series of large social land mines and take serious societal, national, budgetary and even violent casualties, do you think that law enforcement and local prosecutors take a decision like this lightly considering Ferguson? I don’t.

Translated: there’s something likely extremely compelling to the case to have crafted the decision to prosecute in light of the today’s SJW political environment.

That said, do you see some possible threads here, forms of linkage with the Jussie Smollett case? I believe I do. And that’s that of narcissism, stages of and enhancements involving victimhood, sociopathy and, in this case, sheer evil regarding the animals.

The sequence of events would have made it difficult for anyone but Joly to set the fire, Grove said in the police report.

“The timeline shows a window of less than five minutes for another person to enter the residence, splash gasoline around, ignite the fire and then leave without being scene,” wrote Grove.

Joly told an insurance company investigator the arsonist must have been in the home at the same time he was, according to the report.

Lab tests by police found traces of gasoline on the clothes Joly was wearing on the day of the fire, said the report.

Two weeks after the fire, Joly was questioned for four hours by a city police detective and two FBI agents.

During the interview, he drooped his head, staring at the floor, not looking at his interlocutors, according to the report. He didn’t admit setting the fire and didn’t deny it, either.

Being a victim in 2019 carries with it not only a sense of martyrdom but that of massive entitlement and, truth be told, its very own awarded Badge of Courage by Leftists, Demorats and the American Media Maggots.

In the land of Leftists, now, you are nothing unless you are a significant victim of ____________. And you get to choose the grievance du jour, now “traditionally” involving an -obe, -ist or -ism at the end of the word.

Here is proof:

This explains why Leftist and Demorats are on the constant prowl for ideas, activities, events, words or writings by and from which to be “victimized.” The Victimhood Beast requires constant stoking and feeding in order to operate and grow. Yes, grow. Victimhood is Big Business in the United States. It can pay extremely well and, as such, has become an industry of its own. And it constantly screams “feed me!

This isn’t the end nor was it the beginning. This constant seeking, building, restructuring and reorganization of the Hierarchy of Victims will continue unchecked by Leftists, Demorats, aided and abetted by the American Media Maggots.

I continue to refer people to the compilation website entitled FakeHateCrimes.org. A deep and detailed repository of just that.

But wait, there’s more. Just check tomorrow’s news.

Hold on there. Back up that car wash. Let’s have some additional facts, shall we, from (of all places) USAToday.com:

Hate crime hoaxes, like Jussie Smollett’s alleged attack, are more common than you think

by Wilfred Reilly

In writing a book about hate crime hoaxes, I found more than 400. Such frauds damage good race relations.

The hate attack on Empire star Jussie Smollett is now alleged to be a hoax. That shouldn’t surprise anyone.

The questions here are obvious. How many Trump supporters even exist in the downtown of a city that went 83% for Hillary Clinton — and how many of them watch “Empire?” How many guys looking for a fight carry rope and bottles of bleach around with them? Almost every normal citizen had questions like these about this incident, and we were justified in having them.

That this case turned out to be a hoax shouldn’t come as too big of a shock. A great many hate crime stories turn out to be hoaxes. Simply looking at what happened to the most widely reported hate crime stories over the past 4-5 years illustrates this: not only the Smollett case but also the Yasmin SeweidAir Force AcademyEastern MichiganWisconsin-ParksideKean College, Covington Catholic, and “Hopewell Baptist burning” racial scandals all turned out to be fakes. And, these cases are not isolated outliers.

Doing research for a book, Hate Crime Hoax, I was able to easily put together a data set of 409 confirmed hate hoaxes. An overlapping but substantially different list of 348 hoaxes exists at fakehatecrimes.org, and researcher Laird Wilcox put together another list of at least 300 in his still-contemporary book Crying Wolf. To put these numbers in context, a little over 7,000 hate crimes were reported by the FBI in 2017 and perhaps 8-10% of these are widely reported enough to catch the eye of a national researcher.

I have no memory but even I can recall the Tawana Brawley case, and the Duke Lacrosse case.

Now read this:

However, hate crime hoaxers are “calling attention to a problem” that is a very small part of total crimes. There is very little brutally violent racism in the modern USA. There are less than 7,000 real hate crimes reported in a typical year. Inter-racial crime is quite rare; 84% of white murder victims and 93% of Black murder victims are killed by criminals of their own race, and the person most likely to kill you is your ex-wife or husband. When violent inter-racial crimes do occur, whites are at least as likely to be the targets as are minorities. Simply put, Klansmen armed with nooses are not lurking on Chicago street corners.

In this context, what hate hoaxers actually do is worsen generally good race relations, and distract attention from real problems. As Chicago’s disgusted top cop, Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson, pointed out yesterday, skilled police officers spent four weeks tracking down Smollett’s imaginary attackers — in a city that has seen 28 murders as of Feb. 9th, according to The Chicago Tribune. We all, media and citizens alike, would be better served to focus on real issues like gun violence and the opiate epidemic than on fairy tales like Jussie’s.

You and I both know this won’t stop, for any number of reasons. It frequently pays well. It keeps the industry moving, providing life blood. Sometimes literally. It soothes sensitive and snowflakey egos. But mostly?

In the world of Leftists, it provides and conveys status.
