Obama vetoes Keystone XL pipeline

Keystone XL REAL BlockageMr Obama has made his choice, and he has made it loud and large.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Defying the Republican-run Congress, President Barack Obama rejected a bill Tuesday to approve construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline, wielding his veto power for only the third time in his presidency.

He wants you to suffer at the pump, and he wants to kill oil, to kill coal, to kill any potential energy independence of the United States of America.

Keystone XL GraphicWhat is this about?

Why would this be?  MotherJones weighs in.

Because Mr Obama still believes that the United States of America needs to be brought down a number of pegs.  The US is too big for its britches.  It is too colonialistic, too strong, too powerful.

He favors Blood Oil and Conflict Oil over that which we can bring up from our own soil, and that which we can acquire by dint of the construction of a pipeline from Alberta to the Gulf Coast.

Environmentalists bleat that allowing the Keystone XL is akin to allowing the Trans-Alaskan pipeline.  Oh yeah.  The pipeline that hasn’t suffered even one break or catastrophe in its entire existence.  Except by those persons who wished to do it harm = Leftists.

It’s back to the basics for Obama.  He hated that your gas prices went down the past three months, and is pleased that they are now rising.  He wants to hurt you and force you into energy paradigms that aren’t viable but “sound” good and support emotive arguments.  He has no primary substitute for oil, but that means nothing when you own the American Media Maggots.

Samsung 02-2015 213That must be why there are so many pristine Nissan Leafs for sale at every CarMax across the United States.  And why there are so many Smart cars that never got sold.

Samsung 02-2015 216The Nissan Leaf is a piece of crap.  The Smart car is a piece of crap.  The Smart car requires premium fuel.  No one tells you that.

Make no mistake.

Obama wants to make you hurt.

Obama’s goal now and in 2015: pushing America into decline?

Obama Striding Towards PodiumCharles Krauthammer, a very measured man whom I admire, believes so:

Mr Krauthammer is precisely correct; Mr Obama is a man, as president, who purposely chooses “America in decline.”  America’s enemies are emboldened, Obama is “concerned,” he “monitors,” and has done roughly nothing to hold America in the good light that he swore would return to our nation under his leadership.  We are not respected internationally as he said we would be under his tenure.

Further, we have natural gas and oil reserves that can potentially rid the nation of its festering relationship with the Islamic Middle East.  We have the capability to rid ourselves of a great deal of Blood or Conflict Oil.

Yet Mr Obama decides we shall not pursue independence.  Instead, he chooses social divisiveness over unity and coherence, class and racial warfare over cohesiveness and singularity of national purpose.

As Mr Krauthammer states, Obama is a man who does not believe in American exceptionalism or American goodness.  He seeks to place us completely in line with every other nation, no better than Cuba or Luxembourg or Syria or Zimbabwe or Burma.  “American greatness” does not exist in Mr Obama’s sphere of thinking.

This philosophy informs every move Mr Obama makes — or doesn’t make.

Your thoughts?

Keystone XL Pipeline: a surprise initial approval, to the chagrin of Leftists

From the AP.org:

Keystone XL oil pipeline clears significant hurdle

WASHINGTON (AP) — The long-delayed Keystone XL oil pipeline cleared a major hurdle toward approval Friday, a serious blow to environmentalists’ hopes that President Barack Obama will block the controversial project running more than 1,000 miles from Canada through the heart of the U.S.

I must admit: I hadn’t anticipated this turn of events.

Republicans and business and labor groups have urged Obama to approve the pipeline to create thousands of jobs and move further toward North American energy independence. The pipeline is also strongly supported by Democrats in oil and gas-producing states, including Sens. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Mark Begich of Alaska and Mark Pryor of Arkansas. All face re-election this year and could be politically damaged by rejection of the pipeline. Republican Mitt Romney carried all three states in the 2012 presidential election.

Keystone XL Pipeline Proposed RouteFor years America has provided mere lip music to the concept of an energy-independent nation.  We sit on some of the largest fields of yet-untapped natural gas.  We sit on the Bakken oil fields.  Oddly enough, our largest export these days is refined fuel — but not the unrefined oil.

We will not achieve any form of so-called “energy independence” if we continue to rely upon what I term “Conflict Oil” from nation-states that primarily dislike the United States intensely, such as ME countries, Venezuela, Nigeria, Angola and Iraq.

There is no perfect solution to oil, and neglecting to make a logical, cogent and smooth transition to other forms of energy is ridiculous.  Leftists and Mr Obama expect and want that oil shall be immediately dismissed and shunted aside.  That simply cannot be done, because the other forms of energy and much more unreliable.

Wind turbines are high pressure/low pressure dependent, and kill birds.  Solar eats valuable land and must be cleaned regularly with water — a problem in desert areas.  Powerhouses charged by water flow require reservoirs with penstocks and are dependent upon a constant flow via rain.  No Leftist will ever consider nuclear energy again.  No Leftist will consider coal or oil — Mr Obama has made it quite clear that he will do his best to kill coal and oil-fired electrical generation stations.

So what’s left?  Progressives on a bicycle with a chain connected to a generator?  They may be sadly disappointed in its inability to recharge their iPad, iPhone, iPod, iPid, iPiss and iSwear that Leftists make very little sense to me.

Step one.
