In an explosive exchange outside the U.S. Conference of Mayors meeting in Washington, D.C., security guards for billionaire New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg accosted senior Talk Radio Network investigative reporter Jason Mattera when he asked the mayor about his strong support for gun control.
Jason Mattera boldly makes the point:
In the video, Bloomberg is seen surrounded by security. Mattera approaches Bloomberg and asks, “In the spirit of gun control, will you disarm your entire security team?”
Bloomberg’s reply: “Uh, you, we’ll get right back to you.”
“Why can you defend yourself but not the majority of Americans?” Mattera asks as the mayor walks away. “Look at the team of security you’ve got. And you’re an advocate for gun control?”
In a nutshell — once again — it’s Government Elitists vs, essentially, everyone else.
Because, despite all of New York’s gun laws, you can be guaranteed that those NYPD officers are carrying, at minimum, the Glock 17 in 9mm. I’ll wager the magazines carried by those duly sworn officers are not limited to 7 rounds. I’ll wager they’re not limited to 10 rounds. I’ll wager they’re carrying the Full Meal Deal Glock 17 magazine (hence the name): SEVENTEEN rounds. Glock, by the way, is the standard issued sidearm now for Patrol Officers of the NYPD — the Glock 19, with 15 rounds in a magazine and 17-round magazines available. My guess is that — in the security vehicle and those trailing — there are available fully automatic weapons as well, to include suppressed MP5s, short shotguns (below 18″ barrels) for CQB and possibly machine pistols.
Bloomberg argues that guns “make us less safe.” If that is a Truism, then why does he surround himself with a minimum of five (and if you look closely at the video, even more) NYPD-paid officers — a security contingent — for one person? And they, naturally, accompany him no matter where he goes or does — 24/7. People are also asking: what were the limits of Bloomberg’s detail with regard to Mattera?
Katie Pavlich even asked: “Mayor Bloomberg, will you give up your security detail?” Uh, no.
How about you? Your “personal contingent?” Your ability to carry a personal sidearm? Is it lawful in your state? And if it is, “do you carry?” I’m a cop in one of the most restricted states in the union and — hell yes — I carry.
Mayor Bloomberg, by the way, rides in a Cadillac Escalade as indicated here. It’s not a Prius or a Leaf or anything advocated by Leftists. Like the President’s limousine, it’s a huge vehicle with terrible gas mileage. And BTW, Mr Obama’s The Beast gets 8 mpg. A history of presidential vehicles here. And check the thickness of the door of Mr Obama’s limousine below — looks like the door to a 767 or a bank vault, does it not?
So for those on the Left who bleat and squawk about guns and their abhorrent forms: let’s just apply that equation to everyone in the United States, shall we?
Oh no, we shan’t. Because the Leftists want their dachas and their perks and their exclusivity and their gated communities and their security.
To keep them separate from — purposely — YOU. The Proles, the Groundlings, the Massively Unwashed, the Unworthy, the Commoners.
Mr Bloomberg doesn’t answer to Jason Mattera. He doesn’t answer to you. He doesn’t answer to me. He doesn’t answer to ANYONE who will throw him anything other than the most powder-puff of softballs. Like Obaka: you must wear a Nerf Suit before prostrating oneself before the Leftist Chosen Ones.
Mr Bloomberg and his NYPD Chosen Ones proved that in this video.
A question for any NYPD line-level patrol officer reading this blog: compare your working conditions and salary to those assigned to Bloomberg’s Detail. Any difference, perchance?
I thought so.
