One new win for the 2nd Amendment

At a time when we in the United States find the Second Amendment challenged on any number of levels, most certainly in blue states like Fornicalia, and when any number of citizens in Europe wish they had their own version of the Second Amendment, there comes the occasional federal ruling chalked up into the “win” column.

Such was a recent opinion this past week.

Federal court strikes down DC anti-concealed carry law

by Josh Delk

A federal appeals court reportedly ruled on Tuesday that a Washington, D.C., law requiring people to prove they have “proper reason” for a concealed-carry gun permit is unconstitutional.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled that the law, which requires people to show “proper reason to fear injury” in order to carry a firearm, is unconstitutional and a violation of D.C. residents’ Second Amendment rights.

Let’s remember this, shall we? The DC Court of Appeals is the second most powerful court in the nation, directly behind SCOTUS.

According to the law, acceptable reasons to get a permit included jobs that required employees to protect valuables or if an individual had been threatened.

Hello? Earth to Common Sense? For once we appear to be communicating.

Nothing succeeds like success.

Pro-gun BLACK Sheriff wins re-election in Wisconsin

Sheriff David ClarkeFrom the WashingtonTimes.com:

Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun money up in smoke as pro-gun sheriff wins in Wisconsin

by Cheryl K. Chumley

A pro-gun incumbent sheriff in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, beat back the anti-gun money of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to win his primary contest for re-election by a handy margin, 52-48 percent.

First “stream-of-consciousness” gut reaction: so screw you, Michael Bloomberg, you and your anti-gun rhetoric — when you happen to enjoy the comfort of a trained security team brimming with concealed firearms beneath their blazers no matter where you go.

It’s “fine” for you but completely verboten for the Groundlings, the Rabble, the Proles, the Commoners.

Sheriff David Clarke, a Democrat, is now almost sure to win in November because no Republican is challenging him, The Washington Post reported.

The race took on national tones just last week when Mr. Bloomberg — who helps head the Mayors Against Illegal Guns group and who has taken up a personal crusade to scale back Second Amendment rights — threw in $150,000 to defeat Sheriff Clarke. That amount was more than what Sheriff Clarke and his opponent, Chris Moews, spent on their entire campaigns, The Post reported.

This must be so terribly painful for Michael Bloomberg — (I hope it pains him terribly!) — because not only a pro-gun BLACK MAN acquired the position, but also because Clarke is a Demorat and because Bloomberg’s money did nothing.

Sheriff Clarke made national headlines with a public service ad in 2013 in which Townhall reported he stated, in part: “I’m Sheriff David Clarke and I want to talk to you about something personal: Your safety. It’s no longer a spectator sport. I need you in the game. But are you ready? With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. … Consider taking a certified safety course in handling of firearms, so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family. We’re partners now. Can I count on you?”

The sheriff was also a featured speaker at the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting in Indianapolis — during which he harshly criticized Mr. Bloomberg’s anti-gun efforts.

Oh my.  That must so grate on Mr Bloomberg.  A successful black Demorat sheriff who is pro-gun and spoke before the NRA.  I hope it wears and tears like a kidney stone, Mr Bloomberg.  Your money did nothing, sir.

There is indeed a sliver of hope for Wisconsin.
